Chamber Board Nominations Announced
 
The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is pleased to present their slate of nominations for the 2016-2019 Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce Board term. This slate includes the names of five nominees.
 
In accordance with Article V, Section 2 of the constitution and by-laws of the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce, a Nominating Committee was appointed by incoming chair, Brent Tomlinson.  This Committee met and has brought forward the following list of nominees to serve for a three year term on the Chamber Board of Directors:
  • David Joyner, North State Bank Mortgage
  • Tim Kelly, Staples 
  • Susan Flythe, Cape Hatteras Electric Coop
  • Matt Austin, Wells Fargo
  • Jackie Szymanski, Comfort Inn North on the Oceanfront
The constitution further provides in Article V, Section 2-C, that names of candidates for director can be nominated by petitions bearing the genuine signature of at least twenty-five (25) members of the Chamber.  Such petitions shall be filed with the Nominating Committee within ten (10) days after notice has been given of the names of those nominated.  The determination of the Nominating Committee as to the legality of the petitions shall be final.
 
If no petition is filed within the designated period, the nominations shall be closed and the nominated slate of candidates shall be declared elected by the Board of Directors at their regular July meeting.  If a legal petition shall present additional candidates, the names of all candidates shall be arranged on a ballot in alphabetical order.  Instructions will be to vote for the number of candidates needed to fill open positions.  Identifications shall be made on the ballot of those candidates nominated by the Nominating Committee. .
