The Hills Are Alive - July 2
McKinney, TX

Since the area cycling calendar is clear this weekend, some of my favorite volunteers have teamed up with me to offer local cyclists a simple ride. Our 8 mile loop provides an exhilarating route that you can repeat up to 12 times. Registration is currently $15 per person/ $20 on Saturday.

Peach Pedal - July  9

This ride has been an area favorite for many years. The organizers do an excellent job putting together good routes, great support, friendly volunteers and post ride food for an enjoyable day. Be careful with the heat and hills along the way.

They offer routes of 8, 28. 39 and 61 miles. The ride starts at 7:30am for the 61 milers, with the other routes at 15 minute intervals.

Tour de Paris - July 16

The City of Paris has been putting on their ride for over 30 years. Their post ride hamburgers in the air-conditioned Civic Center are a real treat after the heat of the ride. Routes of 20, 35, 57 and 80 miles will put you through the test. Remember to stay hydrated and eat enough calories to prevent running out of energy too soon! There is a Balloon Festival added to the activities for the weekend. Come to Paris TX for some small town hospitality. The ride starts at 8:00am
Tour de Goatneck - July 30
Cleburne

perennial tune up ride for the HHH, this is another excellent tour. They offer routes of 10, 27, 41 and 70 miles that have very little shade and more than a few hills. Avoid the frisky pony syndrome so that you can finish this ride without any heat issues. Click the link below for information and registration. Ride starts at 7:30am

Use Your Gears
Save Your Legs

How often do you shift gears during your rides? My friend Alan Faddis shifts about 500 times during a 60 mile ride. Why? To save his legs. If you are pedaling slower than 60 revolutions per minute, you are going to wear out your legs on longer rides. Learn about pedal speed/rpm/cadence by watching our free video. Save your legs by using your gears.

Big Bend Adventure  September 10-17

For my money, there is NO place like Big Bend National Park for getting away from the metro area and enjoying a week of quiet serenity. 4 days of cycling and 2 "open" days. You can use those to day hike, backpack into the mountains, float the Rio Grande (with Far Flung Adventures/additional fee) or just hang out and relax. We offer Mostly Camping Packages or All Indoor Lodging Packages. Meals, lodging, transportation, permits, fees and all ride support are included in all packages.
