Dear Friends,
June certainly has been a wild ride. June is a month of exams and finals; a month to prepare in excitement and make plans for the summer. It is a month to celebrate Father's Day, graduations, LGBTQ+ Pride, and so much more.
All of this made the Orlando shooting on June 12 all the more upsetting. Such a massive tragedy is bound to have profound effects on the Orlando community, the LGBTQ+ community, the Latinx community, and so many more.
It is times like these that it's most crucial to take care of each other. Gifted individuals like you and your family members are likely to feel this tragedy deeply, and by sticking together, we can support one another in healing.
The support of a community can truly help people heal, even at the darkest of times.
In everything we do at SENG, from our large Annual Conference to our smallest SENG Model Parent Group meeting, our greatest priority is to support each member of our community. Together, we are stronger.
We have many mediums of support that may be able to help at this time, including our list of mental health professionals, and the first three articles below in this newsletter.
Please know that you are not alone.

I am on my knees. I am not sure if it is in prayer or in total anguish. Another shooting in our sister-country to the South. Another tragedy too big to comprehend and loss of life so horrendous as to be truly unfathomable. I receive a text from my daughter; she is at a vigil downtown, a show of support for the victims, an assembly to demonstrate and to stand in cohesive community, to say "we are here". I sit quietly thinking, proud of her, glad that she stands tall, glad that she reaches out, but find myself thinking: what have we taught our children?
