June E-Newsletter: Stay Up To Date with Midas

23 percent of Massachusetts residents have debt in collections, with
an average debt of $4,600. Abuses in the debt buying system have have left families financially unstable and unable to repay debts from job loss, medical emergencies, etc. We have to stop this debt trap and protect our state economy.

Help Stop the Debt Trap:
  • Support passage of the Family Financial Protection Act in Mass. (S2230/H4194) which is currently in the Senate Ways & Means this week. The two year session ends July 31st!
    • Fact Sheet
    • Call your elected officials today and let them know that, "I support the Family Financial Protection Act (S2230/H4194) because we need protections that enable Massachusetts families to repay their debts without pushing them into poverty."
  • Share your story! Debt happens just as life happens. Sharing your experience with debt buyers helps us shape plans to protect consumers.
  • Also, share your support of An Act to Promote Personal Savings (S2374) with your state senator.
