NEIGHBORHOOD STORM DRAIN MARKING PROGRAM
You can help the City prevent storm water pollution by participating in the Sandy Springs Storm Drain Marking Program. Storm Drain markers are small, colorful signs attached to the top of storm drains. They help educate and remind people that anything dumped into the storm drains will flow straight into our streams, creeks and rivers. The City will provide a neighborhood with all of the materials needed to mark the neighborhood's storm drain; we need your help in securing the markers onto the storm drains.
For information regarding how you can volunteer to label the drains in your neighborhood, please contact Keep North Fulton Beautiful at 770-551-7766.

Summertime is ideal for outdoor grilling, one of the most popular ways to cook. But it is important to note that July is the peak month for grill fires. Sandy Springs Fire Rescue offers the following advice to keep residents safe:

- The grill should be placed well away from the home, deck railings and out from under eaves and overhanging branches.
- Keep children and pets at least three feet away from the grill area.
- Keep the grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill.

FIRST ANNUAL LANTERN PARADE HUGE SUCCESS
Residents searching for a fun and unique way to celebrate the summer solstice found it in the City's first annual Lantern Parade. Held on June 18th, more than 2,000 people paraded down Morgan Falls Road, lantern in hand (on head and in some cases, embedded in clothing). It was a sight to behold as the parade wound down the 1.17 miles to Morgan Falls Overlook Park where Fire Dancers performed and Alice, a 25-foot floating albino alligator, was guided along the Hooch by a contingent of specially crafted turtles (and escorted by human paddle boarders). An exciting and enlightening event for all.
