Do you love to take your dog on a ride with you in your car? Dogs usually love it too, especially when the weather gets warmer!

The number one thing to remember is never to leave your pooch in the car! Even with the windows rolled down and parked in the shade, the temperature inside your car can quickly reach unsafe levels.  How long does it take for a car to get too hot for Fido? Click here to find out!

In a survey of pet owners,  AAA found that only 16% use a pet restraint system, while 65 percent have admitted to participating in at least one distracting behavior - including petting and playing with their dog.

Both AAA and  Canine Journal strongly encourage pet owners to keep their dogs in some kind of protective restraint system. Securing your dog keeps them safe, and also protects passengers. In the event of an accident, having your dog secured allows emergency personnel to quickly and safely enter your vehicle, without fear of being bitten or worrying about the dog running away.

2016 Cadillac CT6
By Tony Swan,  NewCarTestDrive.com

2016 Cadillac CT6
CT6 is the latest flag-carrier for Cadillac, an all-new car conceived, like other recent Cadillac four-doors, to challenge the Teutonic trio-Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz-that dominates the luxury sedan market.  It is not unreasonable to say that two earlier offerings, CTS and ATS, measure up to that objective quite well. And the CT6 does the same-but more so.

Although it rolls onto the scene as the biggest of current Caddy sedans, it is in no way reminiscent of the opulent behemoths of the brand's glory days in the 1950s and '60s. While it may not create quite the kind of curbside presence as the lordliest of the Deutsch dreadnoughts, the dimensions embrace an interior with plenty of room, front and rear, thanks to a long wheelbase.

Beyond its contribution to ride quality, the long wheelbase yields athletic proportions-not a lot of car extending beyond the front and rear axles. That's particularly true up front, where the long hood culminates in a very short front overhang. Proportions have been the key to BMW passenger car design success for decades, particularly for the 3 Series, and the CT6 gets high marks in this respect, with an appealingly athletic look.

2017 Hyundai Elantra
By Tony Swan,  NewCarTestDrive.com

2017 Hyundai Elantra
The 2017 Hyundai Elantra is all-new, an attractive compact sedan with impressive quality cred and a strong value proposition. Like any major makeover, the 2017 Elantra sports new sheetmetal. It's also a bit bigger than the previous generation. But perhaps its most impressive upgrade is structural. Thanks to a higher percentage of high strength steel and increased use of structural adhesive, 394 feet of industrial glue, according to Hyundai, the new unitbody is 30 percent stiffer.

There's new under the hood as well, specifically, two new engines, and one new transmission.
As with the previous version, the sixth-generation Elantra comes standard with a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder, available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic. However, output of the 2.0-liter has been reduced, from 173 horsepower to 147, an adjustment presumably made in the interest of fuel economy.
Fuel economy is an EPA-estimated 26/36 mpg City/Highway for the Elantra SE with manual transmission, 29/38 mpg with the automatic, an improvement of several miles per gallon over pre-2017 Elantra models.

The optional engine, propelling the Elantra Eco, is a turbocharged 1.4-liter (128 hp, 156 pound-feet of torque). It sends power to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch automatic. At this writing, Hyundai was awaiting official EPA fuel economy ratings for the Eco, but anticipates 32 mpg city, 40 mpg highway.

5 Tips for a Secure Summer Driving Season
How to keep your car safe
As the temperatures rise, so do the incidents of auto theft. As we head into the summer months, it's an unfortunate reality that thousands of people throughout Massachusetts will have their cars stolen this year.

Even the best insurance policy doesn't completely cover the cost of a lost vehicle. While you may recover the current "blue book" value, will they give you enough to purchase a new or comparable car? Are all of the items inside - your laptop, smartphone, the sunglasses you splurged on - covered as well? The hours spent filing reports and claims are certainly a hassle no one wants to go through.

The best way to avoid the financial impact and lost free time is to keep your car right where you parked it.  Click here for five quick and easy steps you can take to make your car harder to steal and less attractive to thieves.
