For thus says the Lord:...
For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. ~Jeremiah 29
Greetings Friends!
How do you feel about SURPISES!! I can't say I totally love surprises. For the most part I like the predictable and the planned; call me boring. I like to know what's coming at me so that I can make a plan.
When it comes to Jesus- he is FULL of surprises. This summer as we have been hearing Jesus tell stories (parables) about the Kingdom of God-he seems always to be catching me off-guard for you see just when I think I know what the parable means... I am offered an alternative understanding. Last week the story about the found treasure and pearl of great price (Mt13.44-46)--- I just assumed it meant that the kingdom was like a treasure, as valuable as a fine pearl... and it is! But this parable was really calling me to live an "all-in" kind of life. All-in? Really? REALLY!! And that was the SURPRISE for me.
This week I have been trying to be open to surprises. Why? Because our God is a God that is full of surprises and upheavals and reversals! Consider this:
- Instead of coming in power, God came in weakness and vulnerability (a newborn baby!)
- Instead of pronouncing judgment in the face of our sin and selfishness, we are offered mercy and forgiveness
- Instead of justice, love
- Instead of death, God brings life- abundant and eternal!!
Perhaps you were SURPRISED by Sue Palmer's resignation. Sue will be missed by all of us-but God has another plan for her... and God is opening up another plan for Hosanna. On this Sunday, July 3rd following worship we will CELEBRATE Sue's ministry among us. During worship there will be another SURPRISE announcement. One that you are not going to want to miss!!
That's it- don't you just LOVE surprises! See you at Lakeside Park!!
~Pastor Linda

Since our dear friend Rick Bahnemann is recovering from his severely broken leg, we have decided to cancel our annual SAM picnic at Lakeside Park in downtown Forest Lake on
Thursday July 7th. Instead of the annual picnic, we will meet for lunch at the
Blue Heron Grill in Hugo. They have a lovely patio, so we can still enjoy the great outdoors, but none of us will have to do any cooking!
Thursday, July 6th

Click HERE for directions and to check out their menu.
Please let Lynda Olson know if you will be able to attend.
Click HERE if you think you can come! Of course your plans may change so, even if you haven't let Lynda know that you can come, and your lunch-time opens up, feel free to join us!!

2016 Forest Lake
Relay For Life
Saturday, August 6
12 noon - midnight
Lakeside Memorial Park
Downtown Forest Lake
What Is Relay For Life?
Each year, more than 4 million people in over 20 countries raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer through the Relay For Life movement.
Celebrate
During a Relay event, participants and survivors celebrate what they've overcome.
Remember
We remember people lost to the disease, and honor people who have fought or are fighting cancer.
Fight Back
The event inspires Relay participants to take action against a disease that has taken too much.
======================
Hosanna is again sponsoring their Cool Runnings teams
for this event and are looking for more team members.
