A Message from Ama Beth...

I have a couple of weddings coming up in the next few months. While weddings are a blessing, I have to admit there is something special about presiding at the wedding of a young adult who has grown up in the church. Meeting with these now adults provides a great opportunity to reflect on the importance that church played in helping them grow into a mature faith.

Our lives are busy and our children are often involved in many activities, so much so, that by the time Sunday arrives, sometimes it feels easier to simply sleep in and catch up on family time rather than come to Sunday services and church school.

I remember those Sundays when we lived in Hanson and traveled to church in Taunton- it was hectic and often not peaceful or fun. "Hurry up, hurry up we are gong to be late. Can you move faster? Why are you wearing that? Get in the car, we are leaving NOW!" and so on. However, it was always worth it when the kids would come back with a story to tell. Now that my children are grown, it is wonderful to see how their faith formation has helped shape their adult decisions and lives. Below is an article a colleague sent out via the diocesan youth ministry page. Click on it to read the reflection of a young adult . What you do matters in the long run for the faith of your children. It's tough, we have all been there, but as Nia shares, it helped her find her own relationship with God as an adult.
