Communities of Faith Issue Statements
in the Aftermath of the June 12, 2016 Orlando Massacre

June 22, 2016

The San Francisco Interfaith Council (SFIC) counts as its constituents the 800 congregations in the City and County of San Francisco, their respective judicatories, sectarian educational and healthcare institutions, as well as the faith-based social service agencies that provide the social safety net for our most vulnerable residents. It has been the policy and practice of the SFIC to speak on behalf of no particular faith tradition or community, while at the same time informing and giving a voice to all.
In that spirit, the SFIC has compiled statements issued by many diverse communities of faith in the aftermath of the June 12, 2016 tragic and violent attack against the LGBT community at the PULSE Nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
These statements reflect the opinions of those particular religious communities and  organizations noted and not necessarily the collective view of the SFIC.
