Top Story: Testing, Identification and Timely Preventive Treatment for Tick/Lyme disease


Each year, there are roughly 1,500 new cases of Lyme disease diagnosed in Maine. With summer underway and tick season in full-swing, we have some important information on recommendations from the CDC and The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) regarding testing and preventive treatment of Lyme Disease

MMC Announces Breast Care Center Co-Directors
Maine Medical Center (MMC) has announced new co-directors of the hospital's Breast Care Center in Scarborough. Paige Teller, M.D. is a fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist, and Chiara Battelli, M.D. is a fellowship-trained medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer. The Breast Care Center co-directors will ensure that all patients have access to the highest quality of breast care provided by a team of multidisciplinary breast care specialists in a welcoming and patient-family centered environment.
