JULY 2016
Solano Land Trust-eVistas
I love a night sky filled with stars. As a kid, my friends and I walked to a huge, flat granite rock in Strawberry, CA, where we could all lay down and see the whole sky. We watched for shooting stars and were always amazed at the Milky Way.

Thanks to you, we are able to offer free stargazing at Rush Ranch. If you haven't seen the stars at night at Rush Ranch now is the time.

I look forward to hearing about your summer adventures at the Sunday Supper celebration in October. We are so incredibly grateful to Ethel Hoskins for hosting us, and pleased to feature the culinary talents of local chef, Michael Quinn. Read more about him below.

Stay for the stars

It's difficult to experience the magnitude and grandeur of a night sky when you can't see the stars due to light pollution.

Here in Solano County, it is still possible to view a star-studded night sky on conserved lands when special programs are offered.

Join amateur astronomers for a free stargazing event...

Tips to conserve water
High schoolers help too

We received some good rain this winter, but it wasn't enough to bust us out of a four-year drought.

As a reminder that we are still conserving water, here are some tips from Solano Saves Water, including a winning Public Service Announcement on water awareness from a video contest for local students.

Military Outside

Solano Land Trust properties serve as playgrounds for many active and retired service members and veterans from Travis Air Force Base. Nature offers peace, solitude, and an outdoor gym.

If you want to take it to the next step, Sierra Club Military Outdoors provides organized trips like whitewater rafting for service members, veterans, and their families.

The program is directed by Stacy Bare, a climber, mountaineer, skier, and recipient of the Bronze Star for merit and a combat action badge in Baghdad.
