What is the WOC Portfolio?
The Second-Year Written and Oral Communication (WOC) Portfolio is part of Mount Union's General Education Program-The Integrative Core (IC). It's kind of a "mid-career checkpoint" regarding your development as a writer and speaker. The portfolio will be electronic and will consist of materials that you will select from the many assignments you've completed in the IC up to that point: the First Year Seminar and Foundational Knowledge courses (A, N, H, & S).

All new students must complete the WOC portfolio and submit it at the end of their fourth semester (sophomore year), but you are not alone! Not only are there tons of resources online to help you through the process, but you can also visit the Digital, Writing and Oral Communication Studio (DWOC) for help from consultants who have successfully navigated this process.
Campus Resources: DWOC
The Digital, Written and Oral Communication Studio (DWOC) is a resource open to all UMU students and provides a space for working on writing, oral presentations and digital artifacts. Consultants are on-hand to provide help with critical thinking at the beginning stages of a project; support through the writing, speaking and production process, as well as guidance on polishing a final product. The DWOC can help with reports, employment and graduate school documents, public speeches, PowerPoints, Prezis, audio files, eportfolios and more! Visit the DWOC website for further information including the hours and location, FAQs and scheduling online appointments.
