Safari News:
Tanzania VAT Update
Dear Friends and Partners,

The  Tanzanian  Government has decided that tourism services will now be liable for  VAT  from 1st July 2016.

Stefano & Liz spent Friday & Saturday of last week in Arusha discussing the details and implications of the new VAT regulations, and we must admit there is still much confusion amongst the Tourism Sector in Tanzania, even though the new regulations come into affect this Friday 1st July!

  • In order to minimise the impact on our partners, Cheli & Peacock has pre-paid some accommodation for existing bookings
  • Properties are expecting a 5% increase, and for those existing bookings where pre-payment has been unavailable, unfortunately additional costs will be incurred to cover the new VAT regulations
  • Park fees will also see an increase and existing bookings will be invoiced accordingly to cover these additional costs

All existing bookings will be handled individually and you will be contacted personally by your dedicated Tour Consultant for all additional costs incurred. Please be assured that all increases will be invoiced at cost. Please note that we may ask you for a deposit on some files in order to cover the outlay on pre-payments that Cheli & Peacock have made before the VAT deadline.

We will do our best to keep costs at a minimum wherever possible; including the absorption of VAT on touring services. Cheli & Peacock wish to safeguard our partners and will not pass on the additional VAT costs on these services, however if this is not possible once we have clarity on the finer details from the Tanzanian Tax Department, we will of course update you immediately.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch. In the meantime, p lease bear with us all and we would like to thank you for your patience and support.

Best wishes,
Cheli & Peacock Safaris
