UUSS Religious Education

Summer RE ArtWorks

ArtWorks for RE children and youth continues through July and August - except for Sundays in which we have a service for all ages (July 31 and August 7). Kids/youth in Spirit Play, True Reflections, our Junior High Youth Group (JHYG) and Senior High Youth Group (SHYG) join together in Room 7/8 for artistic fun and a variety of projects over the summer months. This Sunday 6/26, join Sarah Barbulesco-Lamb for an introduction to acting and improv.  When you arrive at church please sign in at the RE Welcome Table and start in service with your family. The congregation will sing the RE group out just as they do during the regular RE year. Please contact Miranda if you have any questions or would like to volunteer as a support adult to our ArtWorks teachers during July and August. The program could really use your presence. Thanks!
Summer SHYG

Mark your calendars for the second Sunday of July and August for Summer SHYG. We hope to see you on July 10 and August 14 for conversation and community building. New and creative SHYG Advisor Cherie OBoyle will guide incoming 9th - 12th graders in a variety of projects in Room 12 of the education wing. On Sundays when no Summer SHYG is scheduled, youth are welcome to attend service or help in Summer RE ArtWorks.

We also plan to offer the Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education program. OWL is a series of curricula for different age groups and helps youth make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. UUSS is looking forward to offering OWL for children/youth in grades 4-6 and another class for grades 7-9. Please contact Miranda for ways you can help or for more information.
