MABLETON IMPROVEMENT COALITION

NEWSLETTER

April 16, 2015

From the President...

Spring Break has come and gone, so summer is just around the corner! This newsletter is full of news about fun things to do in Mableton this summer - Mableton Day, the Mableton Farmers Market, food trucks, and movies and concerts at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre. Many of these events rely on volunteers and we are fortunate to live in a community like Mableton where so many people give freely of their time and talents.

One event that still needs volunteer help is Mableton Day. It's just one day - Saturday, May 16th - but with thousands of visitors expected, lots of volunteers are required.  Directing visitors around the grounds of the historic Mable House, checking in other volunteers, staffing the information tent, helping artists in the Arts and Crafts demonstration area, assisting the Entertainment Director - this is just a sampling of the ways you can be involved.

Click here to sign up online and be a part of a great day. None of these jobs require any prior experience or knowledge!  We will brief you on all you need to know when you arrive. Volunteering is rewarding. Not only do you help our community, but you'll meet new people and see how Mableton Day works.

I'll see you on Mableton Day, but in the interim, please feel free to contact me by phone or email - I'm always ready to talk about Mableton.

Sincerely,

Joel Cope

Plant Sale and Garden Fair
Friday, April 24th and Saturday, April 25th from 10am to 4pm

The Cobb County Master Gardeners will present their annual Plant Sale and Garden Fair on April 24th and 25th.  Located in the covered Equestrian Center at Jim Miller Park, come and shop among hundreds of plants from the gardens of the Master Gardeners - iris, lilies, annuals, hellebores, ferns, hostas, perennials, native plants, shrubs, and trees.  Vendors will also offer specialty plantings and items such as yard art, sculptures, planters, birdhouses, crafts, and much more.  Jim Miller Park is located at 2225 Callaway Road in Marietta.

Cobb County Master Gardeners volunteer their time in the community to advance horticultural knowledge and promote interest in gardening.  MIC is indebted to two Master Gardeners, Terri Carter and Lallie Hayes, and for their leadership at our Historic Mableton Community Garden as well as Linda Hlozansky for her help in minding the herb and kitchen gardens at the Mable House For more information on Cobb County Master Gardeners, including how to become a Master Gardener, click here.
