MIC's Mission

The MIC Board works to carry out MIC's mission of promoting activities, enhancing communication, and facilitating initiatives that will benefit the welfare of the community and its spirit.  MIC's focus is people, community services, and economic development.

What does the Board Do?

Board members are not compensated financially for their MIC service; we are all volunteers.  The Board is responsible for overseeing MIC operations, finances, determining MIC positions on zoning cases, appointing MIC officers, modifying bylaws, and listening to the community as we formulate MIC policies and projects.

Apply for the Board Online

Candidates must submit applications online by February 25th.  Click here to access the application or to learn more about the process. Click here to read the bios of MIC's current Board members.  MIC Board members are your neighbors - please apply now so you can join them!

What does it take to be a MIC Board member?

A passion for Mableton, a willingness to learn even more about our community, an interest in working with people, and the time to commit to monthly Board meetings, committee meetings and projects. Each MIC Board member is expected to chair a committee or lead a project of his or her choosing. The rewards are many - new friends and connections in the community, a sense of accomplishment and the knowledge that you are making our world just a little bit better. MIC Board members must also be MIC members living in 30126 and at least 18 years old.

Groundbreaking Ceremony at the Boys & Girls Club
Saturday, February 21st at 10am

The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking for the new playground at the A.W.

"Tony" Matthews Boys & Girls Club, funded by Kiwanis International in conjunction with their 100th Anniversary and convention in Atlanta later this spring.  The event is at 10am on Saturday, February 21st at the Club, which is located at 785 Fontaine Road in Mableton.

Playground construction will be completed in April. The Boys & Girls Club has provided after-school and summer programming for Mableton children for decades. This playground will give kids more options for healthy, outdoor activity at a time when too many of us, regardless of age, are far too sedentary. Let's celebrate this great event and thank Kiwanis here in Cobb County and elsewhere for their generosity.

Mableton Day Vendor Booths Available
May 16th from 8am to 4pm

Mableton Day is coming soon and the organizers are urging local South Cobb businesses to apply now for a vendor booth.  The event is limited to 85 booths and they are going fast!  Arts and crafts vendors are also strongly encouraged to be a part of this great event.

Mableton Day is presented by the Mableton Day Coalition, comprised of the Amateur Advocate Association, MIC and the South Cobb Arts Alliance. In 2014, about 3,000 people attended the event, which begins with the Mableton 5K at 8am.  The variety of activities brings out folks of all ages and interests, so it's a great time to introduce a new product or service, update your image in the community or just advertise!

The Mableton Day Coalition is proud to announce that three local food vendors will return in 2015 - Chic Fil-A, Mexico Lindo and Siracusa's Pizza.  We appreciate their support and sponsorship.

South Cobb Marketing and Branding
Take the Online Survey

Cobb County is looking for your opinion!  As part of the work to "brand" and then market South Cobb, residents and non-residents are being asked to complete an online survey about the area.  The purpose of the survey is to help build the appropriate message and image for the area.

Nearly 600 respondents will be needed to get an accurate sample of our population. These responses will help create a strong brand to attract and retain residents, businesses and visitors to South Cobb. Take the survey online and be a part of this project. Thank you in advance for your participation!

One Million Dollars in Scholarships for South Cobb High School
College Bound Seniors

In the period of one week, South Cobb High School students have received over $1

million in college scholarships from the Posse Foundation and Emory University!

The Posse identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. Out of more than 1,400 applicants from around the Atlanta Metro Area, only 61 students were selected, including the seven from Cobb County. In January, Consuelo Pereria-Lazo, Myles Parker and Myles Johnson made up three of the seven students selected as winners from Cobb County.  That same week, Larry Phillips Jr. and Edlyn Seraphin were accepted into Emory University with full scholarships as well.

Way to go South Cobb High School!
