At present, men are barraged by innumerable stresses, often receive little if any affirmation, and may have few relational experiences that are truly fulfilling. As a consequence, there is a large of group of men who suffer silently, having to manage low self-esteem, anxiety/depression, addiction, and unhealthy romantic relationships. Although somewhat strange at first glance, a video I recently discovered deftly depicts men's current circumstance and the solitude experienced by many men. This video will set the stage for the next meeting of the Men's Group on Saturday, June 21.

Dating and Relationship Group
It is an unfortunate truth that adults typically communicate indirectly, unconsciously, and defensively. In this context, relatedness may be viewed as motivated by one's need to control (and, at times, manipulate) the other, a need that is usually based on fears and anxieties that are exaggerated and unrealistic. Romantic relationships are largely oriented around a specific type of unconscious communication known as "projection." In the next meeting of the Dating and Relationship Group on Saturday, June 21, I will discuss the nature of projection and its defensive role in romantic relationships. Given that projection generally leads to misunderstanding, conflict, and the demise of relationships, I will describe how projection can be more effectively worked with to impact relationships positively, especially if one learns how to recognize it as a form of communication and read the hidden message within it.

The Men's Group will meet at 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM noon, and the Dating and Relationship Group at 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM. The fee is $25.00, and there is a limit of 12 people for each group.
