MEMOIR WRITING

Tuesday. July 19- August 9
10:30 am - 12 pm
Learn how to write your life story with Professor Nancy Shuster. Beginning Tuesday, July 19,  class runs  from 10:30am until noon. Class will meet at the Maury Loontjens Library for four consecutive Tuesday mornings. Your life is important. Now is the time to leave an accurate memoir for family and friends. Learn simple techniques to create your life story in a fun relaxed class. Space is limited to 12 so register early to reserve  your place in this free memoir workshop. Save the dates 7/19, 7/26, 8/2, 8/9.  Registration Required.

A NOTE FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE NARRAGANSETT LIBRARY:


We need your support!

The Friends of the Narragansett Library are  having a kickoff event to support the November bond issue for the new library. Our library in Narragansett is beginning a new chapter.  Join us at the Towers on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00pm for a kickoff event, "Shout Out" to Your Library.  Learn how your voice can support your new library. The event will feature an information and an architectural drawing on display for the new library.  Hor d'oeuvres, desserts, music and cash bar will be available. Donation: $20, tickets available at the Circulation Desk.

Also there will be a drawing for a beautiful, framed Bill Krull photograph.  Raffle tickets are $5 or three for $10.  Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Circulation Desk prior to the event

Creating Comics: A Kids Program presented by Eric Fulford: Wednesday, July 6th at 10:30AM 
Eric will inspire and entertain as he teaches kids to make their own comics. Program geared towards ages 5 and up. Registration required. Registration starts Monday, June 27th.

Dino Tea Party Story Time: Thursday, July 7th: 10-10:30 AM for 2-3 yrs & 11-11:30 AM for 3-5 yrs 
You are cordially invited to a TEA-rex party! We'll begin with a dinosaur story, then make a cute dinosaur themed craft, followed by a dinosaur tea time.  Registration required. Registration begins Monday, June 27th.  

Shell Decorating For Kids: Thursday, July 7th 2-2:30 PM 
Stop by the library and create beautiful shell art. We provide the decorating materials and 1 shell per child...Kid's bring their creativity and extra shells for decorating! All registered children welcome, but program is geared towards ages 4 and up. Registration required. Registration begins Monday, June 27th.

A lap-sit story time for children ages 1-3, with parents or caregivers. Finger plays, songs, stories, and action rhymes encourage early literacy. Registration required. Registration begins Monday, June 27th.

Come join us and the Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art for a cool paper airplanes demos!  Program geared toward ages 8 and up.  Registration required. Registration begins Monday, June 27th.

Fun Kids Music: A program presented by Katie Fairhead

Katie's music is silly and will surely entertain children of all ages.  All children are welcome, the program geared towards ages 3 and up. Registration required. Registration starts Wednesday, June 29th.

Cookie Decorating For Kids: Thursday, July 14th: 10:30-11 AM 
Basketballs, baseballs, tennis balls...COOKIES...oh my! We provide the decorating materials and 2 cookies per child...kids bring their creativity! Program geared towards ages 4 and up, but all kids are welcome if registered.  Registration starts Thursday, June 30th.

LOCAL AUTHOR VISIT: ASHLEY RICHER: Friday, July 15th 10:30-11AM 
Meet local kids author Ashley Richer and hear her read her new book...the sequel to her first book titled Tyler's Tall Tales: Chasing the Moon! Following the reading, Ashley will take questions, lead a craft activity, and sell her new book! Don't miss this amazing local kids author! All ages encouraged to attend! Registration required!


Chalk Art For Kids: Monday, July 18th: 10:30-11 AM 
Come show us your awesome chalk drawing skills inside the library! We will provide the chalk and paper. This is an all ages event. Registration required. Registration begins Tuesday, July 5th.


B'wana Iguana Cool Reptiles for Kids: Wednesday, July 13th: 10:30 AM 
Want to learn more about reptiles and even TOUCH them?! You will not want to miss this educational and entertaining program! This is an all ages event but geared toward 4 yrs old and up.  Registration is required. Registration begins Wednesday, July 6th.




Fire Fighter Kid Olympics:  Thursday, July 21st: 10-10:45
 
Come out and meet the amazing Narragansett Fire Fighters! Children will get to "touch a truck" and learn all about fire fighting. In addition, children can participate in some fun events, such as water balloon toss (weather permitting), tube crawl, and jump roping as well as practicing "stop, drop, and roll". See you there.  Registration required. Registration starts July 7th. All ages welcome, recommended for ages 4 and up.

Storytime: Friday, July 22nd : 10-10:30 AM for 2-3 yrs & 11-11:30 AM for 3-5 yrs 
Join us for a fabulous fish story time! A story time session for children and parent or caregiver. Join in stories, songs, finger-plays, a craft and snack. Class size is limited; registration is required.

Young Adult RICM Minecraft with moding: Thursday, July 28th: 10:30 AM 
Have your Pi and "mod" it too! Learn how to build structures and run simple games in Minecraft with the Raspberry Pi microcomputer and Python programming language! Ages 11 and up. Registration is required.

Kids Harry Potter Cartooning Party: Thursday, July 28th: 6:30-7:30 PM 
It's Harry Potter's birthday week...so join local artist Mrs. Adams for an hour of Harry Potter cartooning fun! Learn Registration required.  Registration begins Thursday, July 14th.
