Most everyone agrees about the importance school plays in a child's life. I'm a big fan of all the dedicated teachers out there who give their hearts and souls to educating our children and preparing them for work, leadership, and thoughtful endeavors. Without question, however, children need a break from the classroom (just as their teachers do!), and summer vacation provides the perfect "laboratory" for continued growth and learning.
That's why Jewish Family and Children's Service of Minneapolis is so proud to play an important role in helping more children each year attend summer camp.

|
At our 106th Annual Meeting on June 14 we celebrated the many talented and generous people who make it possible for JFCS to fulfill its mission each year.
We extend a huge thank you to this year's Annual Meeting co-chairs Roni Gingold and Randi Wolfish, and all who volunteered to make it a spectacular evening! The Annual Meeting would not be possible without the dedicated work of these generous people.

Celebrate strength and pride with J-Pride
|
In light of the recent tragedy in Orlando, Florida, we remind ourselves that June is the month in which we lift up and celebrate the strength of the LGBTQ community - perhaps this year more than ever.
Twin Cities Pride Parade and Festival
Join J-Pride and our sponsors in the parade as we march down Hennepin together. Wear your most festive attire to celebrate our 11th year at TC Pride - and don't forget your dancing shoes! After the parade, be sure to stop by our booth at the festival in Loring Park.

PCHP Graduation: The first of many to come
|
On June 5th, 43 families celebrated at the Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) Graduation event and ceremony.
Each year, multiple generations of families come to celebrate the commitment and achievements of children and parents who have worked together with in-home educators for this two-year program. As these graduates prepare to start kindergarten, we believe they are on the path to many academic graduations yet to come!
PCHP is an intensive home visiting program for low-income families with children ages 2-4 that addresses school readiness, parenting skills and child development. It helps underserved children bridge the achievement gap and prepare them for success in school by bringing highly-trained home visitors from the community into the homes of families for twice-weekly visits over a two-year period.
