ONE BOOK ONE PROVINCE ANNOUNCES BOOK SELECTION

The Saskatchewan Library Association is very excited to announce a ground-breaking project which is being planned for early 2017: One Book, One Province Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan's One Book, One Province Project (OBOP) aims to increase literacy and to create a reading culture by providing opportunities for residents to become more socially engaged in their community through a shared story. OBOP also aims to promote the value of libraries and literacy organizations, while raising their profile in the province, by providing opportunities for multi-organization collaboration in planning, promotion, and programs. As the SLA prepares to celebrate its 75th anniversary, it welcomes One Book, One Province among the events planned for 2017.

Through a nomination and voting process the book has been selected for the first book in the project, The committee announces that  the first book for the One Book One Province project is The Education of Augie Merasty: A Residential School Memoir by Joseph Auguste Merasty with David Carpenter. The activities and events related to the book, the authors, and the topics are slated for winter of 2017.  Watch for ongoing information and start reading today!
