Call for 2017  State Legislative Requests
The 2016 Legislative Session is over and it is time to start the process of planning for the 2017 legislative session. OML values the perspective of all members on legislative concerns and we encourage city officials to participate in the process so we will be prepared to present a united legislative effort.  Please complete the Legislative Request Form by July 22, 2016
Overtime Exemption Rules
After a long wait, the Department of Labor (DOL) has released the revisions to the white collar overtime exemption rules in the Fair Labor Standards Act. The new rule becomes effective on December 1, 2016.    More information  from one of OMSC's preferred partners, Benefit Plan Strategies.
MCO/OML 2016 Mayors' Summer Conference Held in Woodward
Mayors from Guymon to Miami and all points in-between met in Woodward last week for the annual MCO/OML Summer Conference.  This yearly event brings mayors and vice mayors from across the state together for an outstanding training and educational opportunity.  Those in attendance had three days to enjoy the great city of Woodward and network with fellow mayors. OML ED Stager On the Radio Discussing the Boren Penny Tax Increase
OML Executive Director, Carolyn Stager, visited with two Oklahoma City radio stations last week.  Stager first met with Chad Alexander of radio station KOKC 1520 to discuss State Question 779, Boren Penny Sales Tax Increase Proposal and the negative impact it will create for cities and towns if passed.  Stager then met with Calvin Wright of radio station KTOK 1000 to speak about the upcoming MCO/OML 2016 Mayors' Summer Conference in Woodward.  
The Oklahoma Academy Salute August 23rd
The Oklahoma Academy 23rd Annual Salute...A unique, one of a kind special event recognizing Oklahoma's Congressional delegation, Governor and Cabinet, and Legislative leadership and committee chairs. 

Leaders from the political, business, education, nonprofit and community spectrum join The Oklahoma Academy at the networking reception, and then for the celebration dinner to give a "salute" recognition to the statewide elected officials, along with the recipient of the Oklahoma Key Contributor Award, the Oklahoma Academy's prestigious recognition award given to an individual, business or group who has steadfastly made a positive difference for Oklahoma.  More information
Grants Workshop To Be Focus of Preconference Workshop
OML announces the 2016 Annual Preconference will be the Grants Workshop.  It will take place at the Cox Convention Center on Tuesday September 13th .  Mark your calendars to Save the Date.  Register Today!  More Information
Don Rider and Innovations Awards Call for Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for the Don Rider Award and Innovations Awards. Please submit your entries by July 15th, 2016.  The awards will be presented at the OML Annual Conference Awards Banquet on September 15th, 2016 in Oklahoma City.
Nominate Your Favorite Mayor for the 2016 MCO Mayor of the Year
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2016 MCO Mayor of the Year.  There are two awards to be won, one for municipalities of 5000 or more and one for municipalities of less than 5000. The awards will be presented at the OML Annual Conference Awards Banquet on September 15th in Oklahoma City, OK. More information can be found on the OML Conference Website. Good Will Tour Rolls Through Wayne and Davis
OML Executive Director Carolyn Stager is off on the road again on her Goodwill Tour, visiting cities and towns across our great state.  This trip she visited Wayne and met with Mayor Jeff Smith, Clerk Tracy Lynne Lewis and Dusty the office mascot (who is pictured right along with Mayor Smith) and then visited Davis and met with City Manager Thomas Graham and Mayor Ed Parks .
