The Division for the Visually Impaired (DVI) Instructional Materials and Resource Center (IMRC) in Wilmington were honored to have special visitors on June 1, 2015. Governor Jack Markell, Department of Health & Social Services Secretary Rita Landgraf and founder of Specialisterne Thorkil Sonne stopped by to see Brett Reilly at work and take a tour of the facility.

Lakeita Hannah moved back to Delaware from Georgia after obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. Upon her return, she ventured into a successful EBay sales business with a family member; however, after a couple of years she determined she had a need for more financial stability.

DVI Needs 2 Teachers of the Visually Impaired
Two teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) are needed in New Castle County. The TVI is responsible for providing vision related education services to students in a variety of settings, throughout New Castle County. Applicants must meet State of Delaware Department of Education licensure and certification requirements as Teacher, Special Education-Teacher of the Visually Impaired, at the time of application OR be able to achieve within the probationary period. Applicants must demonstrate Braille literacy or hold Certification in Braille. To find more information and application process:

Upcoming Youth Open Houses
DVI and the Parent Information Center (PIC) are hosting four Open Houses, throughout the state for children and young adults (birth thru 24) who are blind or have a visual impairments. The events are designed to provide information regarding PIC resources, transition services, school services, orientation and mobility, navigating state systems, and more. All sessions are conveniently scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in local libraries so parents can easily attend a session and have some very important questions answered.
