Brothers and sisters in Christ,
Summer is upon us! Temperatures are (slowly) rising, and we've already passed the longest day of the year. It is strange to think about, but the church staff is already looking ahead to Fall and even Advent! The year is half over already, but so far it has been a good year. We have successfully transitioned from a traditional leadership model to a Lead Team. The Lead Team has been meeting and discussing facility issues, mission and vision, and lots of other things. We are slowly getting other ministry teams started, and we are interviewing people for the position of Director of Youth Ministries. As we are moving forward in many different ways, I would like to take the opportunity to thank many people who have been so helpful over the past year that I have been here.
To those of you who served on the previous Administrative Council, thank you for your support and input. Special thanks to Denny Denend for his excellent service as the Lay Leader of the church.
Many thanks also to the United Methodist Men who are always so willing to show up and serve! You have washed dishes, cooked pancakes, given out water, managed rummage sales, and more. I so value your dedication to Mason UMC and this community!
And who could forget the United Methodist Women! Thank you most especially for your help with funeral receptions. (A big shout out to Jane Brosius for coordinating the events.) Your cookies and service have added so much love to what are typically very sad days. A smile and a cookie from a United Methodist Woman goes a long way in helping people feel better!
Many thanks to the former Trustees who helped with so many projects at the church. Truth be told, many of you are still helping! There has been and continues to be so much work, and I know that it wouldn't be done without your dedication to the church.
To those of you who lead Sunday school, helped with the worship committee, served as liturgists, helped with fellowship hour, donated cookies, served on the calling committee, given to mission causes, served on the children and youth committee, served on the finance committee , and so much more, I say thank you. Because of you our congregation and our community feels loved and appreciated and the message of Jesus Christ is being given to the world.
Thank you for loving Jesus enough to share him.
In Christ's peace,
Rev. Stephanie Roberts White

Discover a Book You Haven't Read in the MUMC Library
What Ever Happened to Dinner, by Melodie M Davis is a collection of memories, celebrations of family and community connections, biblical illistrations, and recipes! It is also a how-to on how to reclaim the somewhat diminishing family mealtime. Part of the UMW Reading Program choice for "Nurturing For Community."
Have you ever taken a long railroad trip? If you have, you must read Judith Cullen's
Traveling Tales title. Judith has a way of making you a part of every story. Judith has donated copies of several of her books to the Mason Church Library.
A Gradual Disappearance and
The Dangers of Denial by Elizabeth Lonseth are two paperbacks about dementia and Alzheimer diseases. Simply written, personal experiences and definitions of the diseases make them informative and give the reader a sense of what is happening in the medical field. Along with these, Pat Summit's autobiography is worth reading about a well known sports figure as she deals with Alzheimers.
UMW Reading Program Readers: Your reading record folders for the 2015-2016 reading program are
due August 15. Please give the folders to Roberta.
