To See Females in Sport Win by Becoming All that God Created Them to Be
Hope in the Midst of Emptiness: Part 1
Confronting Emptiness in the Face
Ruth 1:20-21

"Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and the LORD has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the LORD has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?"
Naomi was empty. Not only was she empty, she felt utter hopelessness, despair, bitterness, anger, grief and pity. She once had the protection of a good, respected husband, the blessing of two sons who were married, and the hope for a good future where the family name would be carried on.

Now, she was a widow who had lost her sons with no grandchildren to carry the family name. She was also getting older so had no hope of that situation changing. She wanted her daughters-in-law to go on and move forward with hope, but viewed her own life as done for.

She blamed God for her situation. She felt like He dealt bitterly with her, brought her back to her hometown of Bethlehem empty, testified against her, and was afflicting her.

Even when people of Bethlehem tried to welcome her back warmly, proving she had a good and well-known family name, she didn't receive it. She didn't approve of her own name any more and felt like she was deserving of this affliction.

This is one specific situation, but have you or others you know ever felt the same things she felt just in other situations? The loss of hope, purpose and joy. Mad at people who are nice, doing well, and just trying to help but only making it worse. Wondering why God would allow this. These feelings are real and they shouldn't be ignored.

Before dealing with emptiness, it needs to be recognized. Stay tuned...

From a Collegiate Male Athlete: Part Two
Prayer:  I think men are in dire need of prayer to not conform to the negative world view of women as well as to make covenants with their eyes. No matter how we do the next two steps (of modesty and intentionality), nothing will fix the problem without Christ going to work on men's hearts, making prayer the single most important step.

It is hard to rise above the world view the majority of people around us believe where it's about the individual and what feels right and satisfying in the moment. It is hard to take a stand against the things people think, say and do that are against Truth, especially when alone in the matter.

This is the case for many Christian guys, especially in the realm of athletics as we are hearing from this young man. And unless we personally know those in this position having talked with them about it, it can be hard to recognize this battle firsthand, even if we do know them.

This is why prayer and awareness is so important. We don't know, but God does, and we can be sensitive to His Holy Spirit to guide us for when we interact with male athletes. So many out there are surrounded by temptation, pressure, and the wrong view/belief of people, namely women in this case, that need us praying for them and a part of the solution. We need to stand by them in Christ whether through our minds, hearts, bodies or spirits.
