Question?
Who signed up to provide altar flowers on July 10? Someone started to fill out their information on the flower calendar by the church office but forgot to leave their name. We need a name.  Please contact Wendi in the church office if that was you!

Sermon
"The Possible Standard "

Scripture
Luke 19:1-10 and Philippians 2:3-5

These next two Sundays, worship will be led by our own Vince Fratello.  I've read through the sermons and seen his approach to worship and I dearly wish I could be here to listen.  What he is bringing is outstanding and appropriate for our study of Jesus, the family, and the role of the church in the world.  This Sunday, the title is "The Possible Standard" and focuses on the next version of what many of us remembered as WWJD (What Would Jesus Do).  He will be examining first, what did Jesus really do?  He then focuses on his own family, particularly his grandmother who was a cook many places starting with a sheep ranch.  She was always "present" in thought, word, deed; her mind focused on what lay before her.  So what needs our attention, our attentive action, particularly in this complex world of phones, texting, computers and the many things that can take our focus away from what is needed?  To answer that question we need look no farther than Jesus.  This will be a message not to be missed.  As many of us gather at Annual Conference and then I head to Twinlow Camp to help train their young leaders, this sermon comes at exactly the right time.  To prepare please read both Luke 19: 1 - 10 and Philippians 2: 3 - 5.
Ministry News

First Service Time Change
July 10 - 9:00am
Please note, starting on Sunday July 10 and continuing through August 28, the first service start time will change to 9:00am on a trial basis.  This summer we will decide if it is something we will continue through the Fall with our full program schedule.

ONE Service & Church Picnic
Sunday July 31, 10:00am
On Sunday, July 31 there will be only one service at 10:00am when we will worship together as one body in Christ Jesus.  Following the service, please join us for the annual church picnic.  Please bring a salad or side dish to share with 10-12 people.  The main dish and drinks will be provided.  Also bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

Reception for Katherine Parker
June 29, Noon
Katherine Parker, a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of the UMC now serving in Nepal, will be joining us  June 29 at noon in Friendship Hall. Aldersgate helps support her mission which involves serving as part of the health team of the United Mission to Nepal.  Her work there is focused in three areas: 1) Adolescent sexual reproductive health and rights and menstrual hygiene; 2) Maternal and child health; and 3) Water, sanitation, and hygiene. The reception will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about her work and life there. A light lunch will be served.  Please sign up on Sunday's attendance form.  Contact is Jean Rummel.

Pastor's Whereabouts
This week Pastor Brad is attending the Pacific Northwest United Methodist Church Annual Conference in Puyallup, and then he will be the camp pastor at Camp Twinlow for a week.  Church member Vince Fratello will be leading worship and preaching this Sunday, June 26 and also on July 3.  Pastor Brad will be back in the pulpit on July 10.

Gay Pride Parade
June 26
We have been offered the opportunity to march with Redmond United Methodist Church at the Pride Parade on  Sunday, June 26th.  The United Methodist churches in this area will march together.   There is a send-off service at 10:30am at First UMC of Seattle (180 Denny Way) and everyone will then leave around 10:45am for the parade route. Their best guess is that we will start moving around 11:30am and it will take 1½ hour to finish the route - the parade officially starts at 11:00am..   First UMC also has T-shirts for sale to wear for $20.  The front says "All Are Welcome" and the back has a mosaic fish with the words, Pride + Faith.  Stan and Candace McKenzie will be going and would be glad to carpool with anyone who would like to join them.  If this is something that interests you, email them at [email protected]

Summer Giving
We thank you for your financial support and remind you that summers are usually our leanest months because many of you will be gone on vacation.  We encourage everyone to catch up on their donation pledges. If you have not already done so, please consider signing up for automatic, recurring, electronic giving.  It's fast, it's simple, and it really helps us keep the lights on and programs going during the summer months. For more information, go to the giving page of the church website (aldersgate-church.org/giving/).   For those members in town for part or all of the summer, click here to check out our website  calendar page for summer events !  Blessings to you and your family. - Finance Team

VBS Workshops
June 28, June 29, July 7, July 14
There will be workshops held on the following days to help prepare decorations and crafts for Vacation Bible School: June 28, July 7 and July 14 from 6 - 8pm plus June 29 from 11am - 2pm.  Please come when you can and help us get ready for the most fun week of the year!

Kid's Club Volunteers
Please CLICK HERE to sign up to host a Kid's Club this summer. It is easy and fun and a great way to serve the church. Kid's Club is a fellowship time for kids during the first worship service. There are typically between 4-15 kids present that range from 3 years old to tween age. Share a part of your story and your passions with the kids - they love getting to know members of their Aldersgate Family.  Play games or do an art project with them.  Talk with Jen Hoerber about ideas that could work or to find someone to host with you!

Communion Servers
We are updating our list of people willing to help serve communion.  Servers are asked to serve communion the same morning that they will be serving.  Click here for the current list of people willing to serve communion and learn how you can add your name to the list or have your name removed from the list. Contact is Malia Hampson.

Jars Needed
We need plastic jars with lids for a Vacation Bible School project.  We need  pint or quart size, such as a mayonnaise jar or a peanut butter jar. Leave them in the bag by Linda Detering's mailbox or give them to Jen Hoerber.   Thank you.
