ERC's EcoCamps
Our favorite program is back this summer!
Exploring Wild Idaho
June 27 - July 1
Open to rising 5th and 6th grade campers
Traversing the Backcountry
July 11 - July 15
Open to rising 7th-9th grade campers
Not only are the ERC's week-long overnight EcoCamps one of our favorite youth programs, there is also still space in both camps! Camps take place at the
Idaho BaseCamp
over Trail Creek pass, sandwiched between the Lost River Range and Pioneer Mountains. Campers spend all day outside exploring nearby trails, spend evenings by the fire playing traditional camp games and eating s'mores and sleep in cozy yurts. An off-site camping trip is included in our first camp and an overnight backpacking trip in our second camp. Camping staff this year includes: Emily Burke and Elisha Mueller, ERC AmeriCorps members; Ty Reinemann, EcoCamp counselor for three years; and Hadley DeBree, ERC Executive Director.

Meet Ty and Greta
ERC welcomes two summer interns
The ERC is excited to introduce Ty Reinemann and Greta Dorsey, our summer interns!
Ty (pictured left), will continue his work from last summer in the
Pesticide Action program and as an EcoCamp counselor but will also work in our
Recycling Outreach and Action (a program in collaboration with Blaine County's recycling program, 5B Recycles). Ty, a Wood River Valley native, is a junior at California Polytechnic State University earning his B.A. in Environmental Management and Protection. Ty is looking forward to giving back to the community that helped shape who he is today and sparking a curiosity for our natural environment in our Valley's youth and adults.
Greta (pictured right), will be working in the ERC's Pesticide Action program. She is a junior at Colby College and is from a small town in Connecticut. She and her family consider Sun Valley their homestead and it is a place that holds many memories as well as sentimental value to them. As an Environmental Policy major, the health and vitality of the Wood River Valley and its inhabitants are a priority to her. Her interest in interning at the ERC stems from her family's deep seeded roots in Sun Valley as well as her passion for environmental justice and learning.

Summer Birding Walks Begin

Join Poo Wright-Pulliam and the ERC's own, Ann Parry for a summer birding series. Birding walks will take place from 5:30-7:00pm on the second and fourth Mondays through the end of August.
Meet at the ERC Office and carpool to different birding destinations. The ERC has binoculars if you do not have your own. There is a suggested donation of $10/ERC members and $20/non-members.

July Gallery Walk Program
Poo Wright-Pulliam Craters of the Moon Show

Join the ERC on Friday, July 8 from 5:00-8:00pm for a special showing of Poo Wright-Pulliam's Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve Artist-In-Residence Exhibition.
Poo spent 21 days in total on this "weird and scenic landscape" where, at first glance, one might believe nothing could possibly live. Her show depicts the species that not only live but thrive in this extreme habitat with over 100 birds, wildflowers, plants, mammals and insects sighted, sketched and painted. Sixteen pieces will be on display including the original "Night On The Moon" - a print of which is hanging in the US Botanic Garden in Washington DC for the "Flora of the National Parks" in celebration of the NPS 100th Anniversary. Works on display will be available for purchase that evening.
