Navarre Beach Renourishment Update #11
Process completed early and under budget
Crews completed the beach filling operations for the Navarre Beach renourishment project on Saturday, June 18. Approximately 1.3 million cubic yards of sand were placed on the beach and 212 turtles were relocated outside the borrow area since the project began April 29.

In the coming week, the contractor will complete tilling of the westernmost segment of the project, remove all equipment from the beach and staging area, and restore the Beach Access 12. Planting of the restored dune areas will begin on or around July 11 and is expected to take approximately one week.

"The contractor brought the project in early and under budget, so the county has been very pleased," said County Engineer Roger Blaylock. "We are looking forward to the sea oat plantings which is our final step. They help stabilize the dunes and reduce erosion."
