Hurricane Season Began June 1
The north Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1 and lasts through Nov. 30. The Census Bureau produces timely local statistics that are critical to emergency planning, preparedness and recovery efforts. This edition of Facts for Features highlights the number of people living in areas that could be most affected by these dramatic acts of nature. Internet address

Anniversary of Americans With Disabilities Act (July)
To commemorate the July 26, 1990, signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act into law, the Census Bureau presents a wide array of statistical information about people with disabilities. Internet address

Infographic: Four in Ten Electric Power Generation

Establishments Convert Renewable Energy Statistics from the 2014 County Business Patterns indicate 43 percent of electric power generation establishments convert renewable energy. One of the visualizations shows a distribution of the electric power generation industries (such as nuclear and hydroelectric) by the number of establishments and the corresponding renewable/ nonrenewable split (as classified by the Department of Energy.) Also included in this infographic are two tile grid diagrams that highlight the states that contribute to half of all renewable energy and nonrenewable energy establishments in the U.S.
