This Week

Let Freedom Ring!

In a delightful reversal of the usual, our weekly Bible readings are ahead of the national holiday schedule.  American revolutionaries thought and wrote a lot about freedom, and they did so with clear-eyed realism and a sober counting of the cost. This week the Bible takes us to an even deeper level: what is the real source and purpose of freedom?  Getting that straight will straighten out a lot of twisted thinking.

Base Camp Leadership Lunch

Base Camp Leadership Lunch is this Sunday. We will have sneak preview  live demonstrations of u pcoming programs, and discuss youth, Rites of Renewal, and other leadership topics (No Base Camp lunch in July; resumes August 14 )

This week's readings here.

Big News

BIG THING are on our horizon!   We'll highlight them one week at a time in coming newsletters, with plenty of information.

COMING THIS FALL TO SAINT ELIZABETH:

The Story: The whole family, the whole Bible, the whole year!

The Story  is a condensed chronological Bible that reads like a novel.  If you have ever felt intimidated or overwhelmed by trying to read the whole Bible, The Story will help you understand God's Word more fully and engage with it more easily.  There are no verse references, and Scripture  segments are seamlessly woven together with transition text into a single grand narrative.  The  Story brings the Bible to life!

Click here for a video that gives you a short explanation of what The Story is about and what you will get out of it.

Starting in September, Saint Elizabeth will gear all of its teaching - preaching, Children's Chapel, study group discussions, Youth Group, and more - to The Story, a 31-chapter abridged Bible.

There are coordinated editions for adults, youth, kids, children, and toddlers. We'll all take it one chapter per week, with a break around Christmas, and finish the whole Bible
together in the spring.

The Story begins, of course, with Creation, and moves at quick  clip through the compelling stories of God's encounters with pe ople, particularly those he has chosen to be his beacons to the world. We'll break it down into chunks so that it is never overwhelmi ng.

Before you know it, we'll be wrapping up with the incomparable poetry of the Revelation to John.

Here's a video of what The Story can do for our church (with a lot of positive comments by Episcopalians!).
