Less Closeness in Intimate Relationships
Recently I have become interested in the dynamic of closeness in romantic relationships, specifically the emergence of more and more partners who appear to prefer LESS intimacy in their relationships.  A review in the Society of Personality and Social Psychology's "Connections" and original research by Masheket al. set the context for this issue.  Even though these readings are drawn from the scientific literature, they offer an interesting and provocative commentary on this rising phenomenon in our culture.

Men's Group
The First Annual Men's Conference
The First Annual International Men's Conference was held in Detroit June 27 - 28, and it generated a lot of controversy.  You may be interested in commentary about the conference offered by Helen Smith, author of the book "Men on Strike," and Glenn Harlan Reynolds.

Announcing a New Parenting Group
Dr. Daniel Siegel on Parenting
Dr. Daniel Siegel, a world-renowned psychologist who has been influential in synthesizing aspects of personal history, the mind, and relational patterns in contemporary life, has important advice for parents.  The following three brief talks by Siegel represent the essential components of his thinking: one, two, and three.  His perspective is similar to my own notion of "Relational Parenting" informs my clinical work with parents and families.  If you are interested in further exploring this material and obtaining additional parenting support, please contact me about a NEW PARENTING SUPPORT GROUP I am starting. Based on the level of interest expressed, this group will be offered via the Internet (webinar format) and/or small in-person groups at my office in Laguna Hills, CA.  Please contact me at 949-338-4388 or at [email protected] if you would like more details.

Application of Buddhism to Mental Health and Well-Being
A Primer on Mindfulness

The concept of mindfulness is frequently spoken about but often perceived inaccurately.  Podcasts by Nugent and Fella provide clear, pragmatic and informative presentations of mindfulness.
