Musical Arts Institute Summer   Program June 23 - August 13 2016

Come Join Us This Summer for Our Summer Ensembles and
Classes. They will be fun and enriching all at the same time and all classes culminate with a Community Finale Concert/Family Fun Day August 13 at MAI.
 
Summer Drumline - Calling all drummers!
Percussion Masters Drumline:

Ages: 9-17 Time: 10:30am - 1:30pm Date: Tuesdays Wednesday, Thursdays

 Tuition: Free
This course is for students aged 8-17 from beginner to advanced skill levels. In this course, students will learn contemporary drum line concepts including drum rudiments, marching dance beats and cadences, stick twirls and showmanship, sight-reading rhythm notation, and much more! Students will be challenged to practice at home in addition to learning during our sessions. In addition to drumming, we'll also learn leadership development and life/character skills. By the end of the summer, we'll be ready to Rock The Neighborhood and increase the peace!! Tuesdays,Wednesday, and Thursdays. 10:30am - 1:30pm. Lunch is provided.

MAI announces openings for the newly established Jubilate Children's Chorale. Summer 2016 marks the start of the Jubilate Children's Chorale -   
Wednesdays 5:00-7:00 pm. 
Tuition: Free
Space is limited to 25 singers. This is an ensemble that explores all forms of music of the African American heritage. Singers must be between the ages of 8 and 18 and have a passion for singing. MAI Summer Jazz Improv Class-
Monday 1:00- 3:00pm  - Tuition Free
This 8 week intensive summer class is designed to be accessible for music students of all levels, ages 10-21. Students participate in various ensembles, master classes and workshops, and jam sessions in jazz. Emphasis will be placed on technical ability but even more importantly, artistic expression. In addition, students are exposed to other artistic disciplines, civic engagement, and college and career counseling. The program is taught by world-class musicians with a goal to help sustain an important art form, provide crucial life skills, and open doors to higher education. Prerequisite: basic skills and knowledge of the students instrument is required.
Join Us for a fun filled Summer.All ensembles and workshops will be in Concert August 8th. The Concert will feature all of our ensembles and selected student solos. We look forward to a summer of cultivating our gift of music
