Sermon:  Rev. LeeAnn Inman
The Amazing Faith Race: "
Striving for Our
Personal Best"

Scripture: Hebrews 6:1-12

Diligent runners strive for a "personal best," a "personal record," a perfect run.  They study not only the basics of the sport, but also the practice and form of accomplished athletes, and visualize the finish line, hopefully, in preparation for running every race as if it were the race of their lives. We have confidence to run the faith race as we follow the example of perfect faith: Jesus.
Peace Blood Drive - June 26

Our next Blood Drive will be on Sunday, June 26th from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  In the wake of the Orlando mass shootings, OneBlood, the local blood center is urging people to continue to donating during the coming weeks. If you are unable to give during our Peace blood drive, they recommend you call 1-888-9-Donate or visit www.OneBlood.org to make an advanced appointment at a local OneBlood center.
Church Picnic and One Combined Service - July 3

Join us next weekend for a Peace tradition, our annual Prayers for the Nation worship service, held every year on the weekend closest to the 4th of July.  We will gather for ONE worship service at 10:00 a.m., followed by a picnic.

The Prayers for the Nation service features lots of special music and congregational singing, including rousing solos and specials by our Chancel Choir and Praise Team, scripture and a message of hope, unity, and a challenge to live up to our ideals.  We will also share prayer for our country  and the world at a time when prayer is acutely needed, and we'll celebrate the freedom made possible by Christ's sacrifice.  Come and hear our first-ever guitar choir as they play familiar American folk tunes.

Everybody is welcome to this family friendly morning, so feel free to invite your neighbors and friends. The picnic will begin after worship (about 11:30). We'll provide burgers, dogs,  buns, and drinks. You bring along chips, sides, and desserts (just drop them off on your way into worship).  And if you don't have  time or energy to  bring something STAY FOR THE PICNIC ANYWAY.  No worries, there will be plenty of food.  It's a great time to catch up with your extended Peace family.  For those of you who can't take the heat, we'll have some seating spots inside the church as  well.  Y'all come!  If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
Join us for Kid's Day Out in July!

This summer there are day and night time options available.  The cost is only $15.00 for the first child, $10.00 for the second and no more than $30.00 per family.  Kids' Day Out is for kids 4 years old to 5th grade.  The activities include games, crafts, hands on snacks, lunch or dinner, and more.  All proceeds to benefit our Children's Ministries Vacation Bible School and Mission Projects.  Pre-Registration is recommended so we can plan accordingly.

Women's Summer Study - "Lavender Springs" - July 15

As women we are pulled in many directions. Rarely do we have an opportunity to just sit, relax and be refreshed. This summer join us for a relaxing and spiritually nourishing spa-themed study of the Psalms where you'll be reminded of God's faithfulness and the power of connecting with other women.
  • No homework-just show up and be blessed
  • Sessions are under 1 1/2 hours-no excuses not to fit them into your busy summer schedule
  • Open to women of all ages (we'd invite the guys, but we don't think they'd enjoy the lavender scented spa treats)
  • Childcare provided
Mark your calendars now for July 5th and August 19th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.   PLEASE RSVP  by emailing or calling the Church Office. 407-438-8947
Bahamas Bound Again! - July 24-31

As a continuation of our partnership with St. Michael's in Nassau, Bahamas, Peace will be embarking on it's first "Family Mission Trip." Some of our Peace families have accepted Pastor Stubbs' invitation to assist St. Michaels with one week of their VBS this summer.  We will be taking our "Cave Quest" VBS to the Caribbean to share with approximately 60 children who live in the community encircling our sister church, St. Michaels.  Please be in prayer for the following participants that they may travel safely and that God will bless their efforts:  Rich and Cameron Meek; Vivian, Sofia and Emma Delgado; Joanna, Callen and Mason Sell; Brian, Heidi, Eric, Dylan and Brandon Hoopingarner.  How can you help?

*We need prayer for the trip.  You don't have to be a designated prayer partner to pray for us.  We need all prayer!  God will combine them ALL and use it to his glory!  Pray often!

*We need 6 donations of $35 to pay the luggage fee for suitcases for supplies (donations should be marked for Bahamas Mission Trip).

*General supply list needs: 7 boxes of spaghetti, 2 bags of paper lunch sacks, 10 cans of tomato sauce, 1 parmesan cheese, 2 boxes pancake mix (add water only), 2 maple syrup bottles, 5 boxes mac & cheese, 4 jars of peanut butter, 2 squeezable strawberry jelly, 2 squeezable grape jelly, 1 bottle honey, 1 jar Nutella, flour tortillas,  1 cinnamon sugar, 4 loaves Peppridge Farms brown sugar cinnamon bread, 40 individual servings of nuts, 2 large packages Craisins, 20 individual peanut butter servings, 100 granola bars, 2 jumbo Goldfish boxes, 2 boxes Cheez-its, 3 bags pretzels, 4 boxes graham crackers, 2 bags large marshmallows, 300 easy to fill water balloons, 3 beach balls, beach toys, deflated sports balls, 2 packs of yellow balloons.

If you can assist with any of the above, please contact Jana in the Church Office or Heidi Hoopingarner at [email protected]  or 407-857-0199.
'Peace for Orlando' Bands for Sale to Raise Funds for Pulse Victims

I was born and raised in Orlando, FL. Like many of you, I never believed this could happen in my city. I never believed I would know someone this could happen to. But it did happen, and I do know victims. They are people I went to high school with, people I have worked with, and members of my church. And I am not alone. Like many others, I feel outraged and helpless in the face of this tragedy. We started donating blood and gathering donations, but wanted to do more.  We are now selling silicone wrist bands (in rainbow and light blue colors) and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the OneOrlando Fund. Go to the website www.peacefororlando.com for more information.

Peace Youth News

After a long week on the Middle School Mission Trip, all that can be said is WOW! We truly experienced a great week of God at work!  Two churches bonded, memories made, relationships strengthened, and all made new.
Thank you Ian, Rhonda, and the Youth Works Staff for an amazing first ever (for Peace Youth) Middle School Mission Trip outside our Orlando bubble! (We love you guys!) Peace Youth adult leaders, (Hepzi and Quinton) I can never thank you enough for the amazing week w
e had!

From our days of Work Hard Work, to really strong coffee and karaoke at Jacob's Well, to riding through Downtown Orlando in silence and prayer on our way back... Through it all we are forever changed... SELF"less" people will come home to continue what God has started within us this week. The mission trip may have only lasted a week, but the mission has just started! It's time for us to view the world through new lenses as we selflessly continue LOVE & SERVE God's people, & GROW in His grace! "Where did you see God today?" - Brandon Sangster, Director of Student Ministries
Report from Florida Annual Conference

Pastor LeeAnn and our Peace lay delegate Markita Cooper-Blackwood attended the Florida Annual Conference June 15-18.

Conference Highlights:

- Celebration of 60th anniversary of ordination of women

- Approved a 2017 budget which is slightly lower than in 2016

- Resolution passed overwhelmingly for church to be safe space for LGBTQ persons; resolution that the Florida Annual Conference will not be silent about violence against LGBTQ persons; Bishop Carter and the Cabinet also made a statement denouncing the act of violence against our LGBTQ brothers and sisters and called for us "to claim our witness as Wesleyan Christians to stand against such hateful violence."

-Leadership speakers explored the theme, "Leading Like Jesus"

- Prayer vigil for Orlando in support of victims of Pulse shooting, LGBTQ and Latino/Latina communities

One quote that struck me from the presentation by Jeff James of Disney Institute on Leadership:"We judge ourselves based on our intentions; others judge us by our behaviors."  I think that is a good one for us to remember as a church family.

For more information go to the Florida Annual Conference website.
New Nursing Home Worship Ministry

We have started a new Nursing Home Ministry! On the first Sunday of each month, folks from Peace will lead a simple worship service at Hunter's Creek Nursing Home. Pastor LeeAnn and several of our retired clergy will rotate leading the service. Peace member Andrea Titmus, who has been volunteering at the center for some time, will assist along with other interested members. If you would like to participate in this new outreach ministry, please contact Pastor LeeAnn.
