What Happened this Week?
This week,
Governor Bruce Rauner made the largest donation of $2,500,000 to Liberty Principles PAC on June 16th. It was followed last night by a
$1,500,000 donation from Richard Uihlein, the group's largest donor to date. Liberty Principles PAC hasn't reported any independent expenditures since the March Primary Election,
but has earned over nine times more money in donations this month than any other Illinois political committee. The second highest earner is Support Independent Maps with $411,500.
Three Republican incumbents were top earners this week due largely to
in-kind donations from Republican Party and Leadership Committees. Rep. Ron Sandack (R) received over
$27,000 worth of printing and mailing paid for by the House Republican Organization on June 16. The next highest earning General Assembly member was
Sen. Sue Rezin (R) with a $20,000 donation coming from the Illinois Republican Party for the purpose of mail design, printing, and postage. The Illinois Republican Party also gave a total of
$17,000 to Rep. Avery Bourne (R) for the same purposes.
The AFSCME Illinois Political Account shifted $150,000 of membership dues to the
AFSCME Illinois Council 31 PAC on June 17 in what was the largest transfer of this past week. This comes as Governor Rauner seeks a quicker decision in the case regarding a potential negotiating impasse with the Union.
