Elvia Hernandez needs you to hear her family's story:
Flor and Steven have always been intelligent individuals. Ever since they had ideas about what they wanted to do, I always encouraged them to steer clear of saying "I don't know" when asked what they wanted to be when they grew up.
I encouraged them to always have their minds on a career.
ITEP made it easier for my daughter Flor to pursue a career in International Trade and Logistics. This fall, she will start her third year at California Maritime Academy
. Steven is an incoming junior at Phineas Banning High School and plans to pursue a career in computer science. He is using the resources provided by ITEP to grow. For this I am grateful! My children have the opportunities that I could not have.
ITEP offers support and resources that school and families often cannot provide. Flor was able to work for a major port company through ITEP's Internship Program. She also traveled to Washington D.C. and was amazed by seeing a new place and meeting new people. It was a wonderful experience made possible by ITEP and their sponsors. We wish for Steven to have a similar experience in the near future.
My children could have "settled," but instead, they both wish to pursue rewarding careers. They look forward to the day when they will be able to give back what they received and more. Flor and Steven know what ITEP has done for them - ITEP has helped them come a long way!
