Construction to Resume on Peterson Road

With spring just around the corner, construction will resume shortly on Peterson Road and on Illinois Route 83. It is currently anticipated construction crews will begin work in the first full week of April when the weather stabilizes. When construction begins, a lane in each direction will be closed on Peterson Road throughout the construction limits. In addition, lane reductions on Illinois Route 83 will also be necessary. As the start date approaches and the work plan is finalized, more information regarding start dates and lane configurations will be posted. at www.peterson83.com

Circus Train Display Comes to Mundelein

The Fremont Public Library in Mundelein and the North Central O Gauge Model Railroaders have planned a circus weekend featuring a unique exhibit of scale model replicas of circus wagons, trains, trucks and circuses. The event will take place on Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and on Sunday, March 22 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Fremont Public Library in Mundelein.

Nine members of the Circus Model Builders of Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois will be on hand to answer questions about the display and explain to visitors how a circus train looked when horses pulled the wagons and how much detail went into building the wagons that hauled the circus from one town to the next.

"When this display arrived in Mundelein three years ago, over 1,000 people stopped by to view the exhibit. It's a great event for the kids but the adults love to learn about the circus and see all the trains. People love us," said Vern Vern Lappe, Special Runs Director, North Central O Gaugers Model Railroaders.

Additionally, the North Central O Gaugers will be running model circus and carnival trains on their layout. A special guest will be Thomas and all of his friends. Come and see Thomas and his friends, James, Percy and Diesel. The kids can actually run Thomas on the tracks and become honorary engineers. Children who enjoy building with Lego blocks are sure to appreciate watching actual running Lego trains. This unique and fun event is FREE so please stop by and learn more about the circus and how it operated many years ago.
