First Lady Michelle Obama welcomes MPS to national Turnaround Arts program
Four schools from Milwaukee Public Schools - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Lancaster, William T. Sherman Multicultural Arts, and Roosevelt Creative Arts Middle School - will be among only 68 schools in the nation selected for the 2016-17 school year as Turnaround Arts schools, the signature program of the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. More high schools in Milwaukee Public Schools now ranked among nation's best for 2016

Eight MPS high schools have earned a spot on national top school lists from U.S. News and World Report and the Washington Post, according to the 2016 lists, up from seven last year. 

For the second straight year, Milwaukee Public Schools is home to the state's top two schools on the Washington Post's list of America's Most Challenging High Schools. MPS is also home to two of Wisconsin's 10 best high schools according to U.S. News and World Report Read more >

Board approves 2016-17 budget that directs more district resources to classrooms

The Milwaukee Board of School Directors approved a 2016-17 budget for Milwaukee Public Schools that increases support to schools by $26.6 million compared to the current school year.
