Heatstroke Prevention
Babies and young kids can sometimes sleep so peacefully that we forget they are even there. But leaving a child alone in a vehicle can be very dangerous, putting the child at risk to serious injury or death from heatstroke.

The good news is that these tragedies are completely preventable. Here's are some of the best ways we can work together to keep kids safe from heatstroke.

Local Free Summer Lunch Program Expands
KCS Expanding Its Free Lunch Program Kannapolis City Schools will now be joined by Cabarrus County Schools in  offering children free meals throughout the summer. Each Monday through Thursday at several locations throughout the community, children 18 years old or younger will receive free lunch and breakfast. Children do not need identification or to be a enrolled as a KCS or CCS student to participate.

NC Pre-K & Head Start Applications
Apply for Pre-K and Head Start We are still accepting applications for NC Pre-K and Head Start.

Families who are interested in applying for Head Start or preschool for 3 and 4 year olds must first go to the PORCh online screening portal to determine eligibility.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Thanks to Sam and Anthony from  Enterprise Rent-A-Car, who  came by to drop off a donation to Cabarrus Partnership! We were able to add this donation to our Emergency Fund, which helps us purchase children's clothing, car seats, and other important items for young children in our programs and in the community.

Central United Methodist Church 

Central UMC's Koinonia Sunday School Class chose Families First in Cabarrus County as their "Joy in July" recipient!

Thanks to  Central UMC Online, Families First was overwhelmed and overjoyed when they received a large donation of gifts and supplies for children and families in their programs. We are so grateful for our community's support!

Young Athletes Day
Young Athletes Day 

Earlier this summer, Special Olympics Cabarrus County held Young Athletes Day, an inclusive early childhood sports program, at Frank Liske Park. We'd like to thank all of the parents and young athletes who made this event such a great time for everyone involved.

Head Start Year End Celebration
Head Start - 2016 End of Year Celebration

About 400 people attended the Head Start End of Year Celebration at Winecoff Elementary last week. At the event, children and their families participated in activities, received awards and enjoyed dinner. Thank you to everyone who attended!
 
M.O.D.E.L.S. Program Celebration
M.O.D.E.L.S. Celebration 

Earlier this month, Cabarrus Partnership held its M.O.D.E.L.S. Celebration at the Hope Center in Concord, NC. Thanks to our community partners, we were able to honor our program graduates for their achievements while in the M.O.D.E.L.S. (Moms or Dads Enhancing, Learning, Sharing) program.  Congratulations to our recent M.O.D.E.L.S. graduates!
