All is well now.

When we saw this, we cried. Just 2 years ago, hundreds of you pitched in to buy this Meals on Wheels truck. You've probably heard it was carjacked on May 5th right in the midst of load-up time!

Well, it's 2 weeks later and our tears have disappeared. ☼ There are some truly good things about this wholly unexpected event:

1. Everyone is fine: 'Tis a miracle no staff or volunteers were hurt.

2. Not a single meal went undelivered:  Bob, our driver, jumped the battery on the old truck and the amazing volunteers kept on doing what they do so well - delivering healthy food and smiles to the homebound elderly.

3. Caring folks from across CA sent support:  By the way, you won't hear this very often, but: we don't need more funds...for the truck, that is. We always need donations for programs! :-)

4. The truck is repairable: Looks like we'll have it back and running in less than a month.

A big thank-you to the enormous number of people and companies who reached out to offer their help unhesitatingly.

We especially extend sincere gratitude to our fantastic Fremont firefighters. Firefighter
Jeff Kleven took us under the collective wings of Local 1689 and helped with every step, working with the impound yard, the tow truck, the insurance company and making sure we were all fine. Having them so solidly in our court during the peak of the crisis meant more than we can put into words.
Jeff & Local 1689, you will always be in our hearts.

If you want to pitch in for the Meals on Wheels Program, we are always in need of donations there!  Thank you.
