Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library

June is bursting out all around the Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library! The lilacs and crabapple trees are wearing their finery with great aplomb. You will notice some additions to the grounds of the library over the summer months. An engraved memorial  bench, spring-snow flowering crab tree and solar lamppost will be placed in memory of Pamela Grace Smith,1953-2016, daughter of long-time librarian Jeanette Smith and her husband Boyd.

Area Boy Scout, Christopher Boucher, will be designing, building and erecting a pergola over our Garden of Read'N patio as his Eagle Scout project. The Garden of Read'N was created in the spring/summer of 2010 when donations were received in memory of Betty Darling Cottrille, Betty L. Johnson, Elsie P. Troyer and Harriet Lucile Lizut. The Friday Study Club donated funds for the garden in honor of long-time members Jeanette N. Smith, Elsie Mooers and Jackie Joice. An Adirondack chair was placed in memory of Chuck Kramer by Catherine Carlson and daughters Hatie and Zoe. Additional funding was received from the Hallett Charitable Trusts, City of Crosby and Crow Wing County Master Gardeners.

In August 2015, a Little Free Library was dedicated within the Garden of Read'N in honor of Jeanette Smith and Cuyuna Range Readers by the IU2U (It's Up to YOU!) teen mentorship team of Bartel/Reese.
