A Message from the President
Mike Dyer
We are very excited to be the first community in the State of Georgia to launch the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, a program for middle and high school students interested in the area of entrepreneurship.   YEA! is an interactive program that brings professionals from the community to train and mentor students in all facets of what it takes to start and run a successful business.   A partnership between the Chamber of Commerce, Mercer University and Spark Macon, the program will be offered as an after-school club, meeting one day per week for three hours at Mercer University's Innovation Center.  A total of 30 classes will be held beginning in October 2016 and ending in May of 2017.  At the end of the program, the students will present their business plans to an Investor Panel (similar to Shark Tank).  The Investor Panel will also select one business to move on to compete in a regional competition.

The YEA! students discover within themselves confidence, optimism and capability they never knew they had, allowing them to take charge of their futures.  Of the Academy graduates, 100% graduate from high school on time, 99% enroll in college and many receive scholarships.   The Chamber is proud to be part of a program that will inspire entrepreneurship in Macon's middle and high schools, helping students learn how to make a job, not just get a job and at the same time develop our next generation of CEOs.

Mike Dyer
President & CEO

YEA! Is currently accepting nominations and applications for the 2016-17 program.  We are also looking for sponsors of the various components of the program.  For more information about any aspect of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, please contact Nadia Osman, YEA! Program Manager at [email protected]  or 478-361-1313, or visit our website.
