Students,

Our last series: Wide Awake has just finished up. In that series we learning some simple truths: 1) God can use anyone wherever they are at-- whether they are actors in hollywood, ballers in the NBA, or neurosurgeons right here in Des Moines. 2) We are the best we can be when we are staying planted right where God has us. 3) We make the biggest kingdom impact when we are Wide Awake-- keeping a close eye on what is going on right around us.

Kevin Durant and Carl Lentz finished off our series with a great interview! It was amazing to see how God is using Kevin and Carl to make a huge kingdom impact-- occupying their streets well right now.

Our new series, starting this Wednesday, is Not A Fan. This series is for all people. It is especially designed for students, though. As students we love to learn, watch, and cheer on other people. We are very good at sitting in the stands and whooping and hollering for our friends or maybe even at a ball game or a performance. In this series we will look at how we can be active participants in our faith, rather than someone who simply sits on the sidelines.

When we sit on the sidelines we miss out on what God has for us everyday. We become passive and we become consumers. When we are passive and only consume, we lose the ability to do what God made us to do. God made us all uniquely, and blessed us each with our own set of skills. We may impact God's kingdom by actively engaging in Christian disciplines like reading our Bible, Prayer and Worship. We may live out the faith we proclaim by telling others of what Jesus has done for us.

I'm a huge fan of this next series, but I am so excited to be a part of making it happen with you all this Wednesday.
