Rides This Week / May 16-21
Last week we added a new feature to our newsletter providing links to our area cycling clubs. So many of you clicked through to find local ride opportunities that we will have it as a regular feature.

We also want to tell you about a special ride this week and some of the widespread offerings in Texas this Saturday.

Find something out there that appeals to you and go ride - even if it's out the driveway and around the neighborhood.
Ride of Silence - May 18

This ride was launched in 2003 to honor the memory of area cyclist Larry Schwartz. Since that time, it has grown into an international collection of rides that are held on the same date at the same time. The Ride of Silence will circle the Northern Hemisphere at 7pm in all 50 states - and in 20 different countries.

The Ride of Silence has no registration fee. Participating cyclists will gather together before riding a single loop at 12mph and in silence. The Dallas metro area has several sites, including White Rock Lake Park (where it all started). You can get the info on all the ride sites at http://www.RideOfSilence.org or click the link below for the information on the White Rock Lake site.

I have never heard about this ride before, but after viewing their website and looking over their route maps I decided to give them a try. They have several routes, offering distances of 12, 30, 50, 55 and 62 miles. I know that they get on some very low traffic, scenic roads around Salad and Stillhouse Hollow Lake. Ride starts at 8am.
