Tour the Amtrak Exhibit Train which tells the remarkable story of U.S. intercity passenger rail through the display of artifacts and memorabilia. This event is FREE to the public and will feature train tours, samples of Maine Made products from the Amtrak Downeaster Café, educational exhibits, activities for kids, ticket giveaways, and more.

This week we hear about and see pictures of Bob Rose's 163 day "walk in the woods." Bob walked the Appalachian Trail in 1996 and will share the joys and challenges of the journey with us.

Maine Senior Guide Hosts
Free Diabetes Education Workshops

Maine Senior Guide is hosting a free diabetes workshop series beginning
Tuesday, April 26, and continuing for five more Tuesday sessions. The workshop, from 9:30 a.m. - noon in the Bath Savings Institution board room on Lower Main Street in Freeport, is free and open to anyone with a diabetes or pre-diabetes diagnosis.
 
The free Stanford Diabetes Self-Management Program  is taught and facilitated by Healthcentric Advisors. Healthcentric Advisors is the quality improvement organization hired by Medicare to improve outcomes for patients with diabetes and pre-diabetes in Maine and other New England states.
 
People who attend the workshop will learn about healthy eating and cooking, problem solving, making action plans, planning meals, dealing with stress, relaxation and working with their health care team. The workshops include healthy snacks and time for Q & A each week.
 
There is no cost, and no insurance requirements,  but participants need to register, which they can do on-line at www.MaineSeniorGuide.com or by calling 207-232-7847. Classes will run for 6 weeks, from Tuesday, April 26-Tuesday May 31, from 9:30 a.m. - 12 noon

Join us for our 3rd Annual Sunday to Sundae 5K road race on Sunday June 5th at 9:00 am. The race begins and ends at Freeport Community Services (53 Depot St, Freeport). Following the race all participants will have the opportunity to make their own Ben & Jerry's ice cream sundae! There will be awards to the top finishers in each age category for both males and females. This is a fundraiser to help support youth and teen programming through RSU5 Community Programs.
