It's never too early or too late to help your child get ready to read.
Parents who have children under the age of 5 are invited to join us
for this free workshop on early literacy. You will learn tips, tricks and activities to do with your children that will help them learn important
early literacy skills.
This workshop is for parents/caregivers and their children, ages 0 to 5.
This project is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Connecticut State Library.
A light super will be provided and registration is required.

are trees of all types, everything from Acer to Zelkova.

How to Start Your Non-Profit Business

This workshop will guide you through the beginning stages of forming
a nonprofit business with workshop presenter and SCORE counselor
Bob Potter. You will discover how to officially form a nonprofit
corporation,
and register with states as a charity, as well as learn about obtaining tax exempt status, fundraising, marketing, the importance of volunteers,
and creating a business plan for your nonprofit organization.
Presenter: Bob Potter is a graduate of Syracuse University and has more than 40 years of experience in creative management, marketing communications, and nonprofit development for leading corporate, arts, cultural and nonprofit organizations including Time Warner, National Geographic, AOL, National Gallery of Art, Lyme Art Association, Mystic Seaport, and Save the Children. His area of expertise include marketing and communications, web development, market research, fundraising for nonprofits, and strategies planning. Additionally, Bob provides consulting for the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism and volunteer work with the Southeast Connecticut Shoreline Food Pantry.

Violin Lessons for Children

Free Violin lessons with instruction and instruments

by New London Community Orchestra.
New London Community Orchestra is now offering
2 new sessions
of free violin lessons for children (grades 6-9) starting May 3.
Instruments will be provided free of charge,
and children may take
their violins home to practice.
Lessons are in small groups with a professional teacher.
Session 1 will be 4:00pm-4:30pm,
and Session 2 will be 4:30pm-5:00pm.
