All Balboa Park Programs Information
2016-2017 Season Registration -- 1 Week Left!

There is only 1 week left to register for the 2016-17 season!  As a reminder, the registration fee is now $50. The registration fee may be paid online with a credit card, mailed as a check, or hand-delivered to the office as cash or check payable to SDYS.  Online registration for the 2016-2017 season is open until 12 noon on May 19.   Current students will register through "My SDYS Portal."

Audition Dates
Auditions will be held from June 1 to June 18.   All currently enrolled musicians--including marching band students--must audition in June . Your exact audition sign-up date won't be available until after the final application deadline of May 19. If you are traveling in the summer, we recommend you plan your trip for after the audition .

Chamber Music Recital May 19

On Thursday, May 19, SDYS' Chamber Music Program will have an end-of-year recital. Students in Inspiration, Showcase & Ovation will perform. Come support your musicians and learn about chamber music at this free concert.

Date & Time: Thursday, May 19 7:00pm-9:00pm - Room 207
Chamber Music Recital May 24

On Tuesday, May 24, students from the Music Institute and SDYS Ovation Program will perform in chamber groups at the Mingei International Museum.  Come support your musicians at this concert.

Date & Time:  Tuesday, May 24 7:00pm-8:30pm 
Location:  Mingei Internation Museum, Blaboa Park

Graduating Students!
 
If you are graduating from SDYS this year, please let us know your plans for the future. We're proud of your accomplishments and excited to hear about the next phase of your life, and we would like to honor you as part of the June concert.

Congratulations to Christine Kim who will be performing Flute Concerto in D, K.314 by W.A. Mozart with the Mira Costa College Symphony Orchestra as the winner of the 2016 MTAC Competition. Performances will be on May 21 and 22.  For more information please click here.

San Diego Bass Fest 

San Diego State University will be hosting the first annual San Diego Bass Fest!  This intense and informative festival aims to educate and bring together the bass community of San Diego. There will be internationally renowned bassist and educators there providing one-on-one instruction to students of all levels.  More information can be found here.

Master Class with Cellist Johannes Moser

The San Diego Symphony's Education and Community Engagement Department will be hosting a master class given by cellist Johannes Moser.  For more information, please click here.

Date: Saturday, May 12 from 11:00am-1:00pm.
Location: Jacobs Music Center, Lower Lobby, North Rotunda.  750 B St.

Summer Music in Tuscany
The small town of Sarteano can be your home base for two weeks of music and Italian living. Make new friends, perform in beautiful venues, and take time to enjoy the many delights of Tuscany. Daily rehearsals, coaching and private lessons are augmented with basic Italian language and culture classes, a master class and a final performance each week.
