Come Back Give Back
Class of 1975 sets a School Record!
The Class of 1975 recently held their 40th anniversary and were gracious enough to hold a silent auction to support the current students at CSHM. This wonderful reunion of Cantwell and Sacred Heart of Mary Alumni had a goal to give $6,000.00 toward scholarships. Alums Pat (Barraza) Palazuelos, Virginia (Najera) Drayer, and Cecilia Sifuentes worked tirelessly to find enough local businesses willing to donate gifts and prizes for the auction. Thanks also go out to Danny Harrigan for serving as master of ceremonies and assisting with the silent auction. Through the generosity and hard work of this committee the reunion netted $12,780.00. Their efforts found 75 benefactors that were willing to give, such as, LA Zoo, Steven's Steakhouse, San Diego Zoo, Home Depot, In-N-Out, BJs, Vons, and many others. Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary, its administration, and students generously thank and commend the Class of 1975 for their philanthropy and setting a new school record for the largest single donation from any reunion class. The gift of education is the most precious gift one person can give. Our alumni gifts go to a tuition assistance fund to help the next generation of CSHM students receive a Catholic, college preparatory high school education.

Northern California College Trip

From September 28th through October 1st our students attended our annual Northern California College trip. Some students were originally unable to attend this event because of the cost, but fortunately, our alumni generously gave $1,960 to help support CSHM in exposing our students to the campus environments. For many of our CSHM students it was the first time they have visited Northern California. The school sincerely appreciates the kind assistance of our alumni to help support our current students.

CSHM Campus Ministry Mission Project
The CSHM Campus Ministry Mission Project encourages students and alumni to join together in feeding the homeless. Alumni are asked to help fund a group of students to cook and serve a complete meal for the homeless in our community. At the evening meal, the alumni donor will be asked to attend the meal with the students. It will take approximately $300.00 to fund a meal. Our goal at CSHM is to fund six meals during the 2015-2016 academic year.

CSHM Students seeking Christian Service Hours would be asked to volunteer for this project. Any assistance with this project would be greatly appreciated. I hope you can join us making this project a reality. For information about this Campus Ministry Project please contact Louis Metoyer at 323-887-2066 ext. 544.

Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary Hosts Turkey Bowl

3rd Annual Turkey Bowl To the House

Every year around Thanksgiving it is almost tradition for me to play in a football game or as we call it "Turkey Bowl". Three years ago I decided to start a tradition that is fun but also giving. I linked up with my close friends and family to create such event. We came up with our very own Turkey Bowl, later on naming it Turkey Bowl To The House. Friends and family came from all over with  full support helping making this event possible. With the help of everyone we were able to feed 40 families the first year and 60 families the second year. How did I Select families? I went back to my grade school teachers and had them pick families who they feel  are in need. With all that being said its time For the 3rd Annual  Turkey Bowl To The House! We set a high goal of 100 families this year and we need all the help we can get! Help us feed as many families possible by contributing to the great cause.  Thank you. God Bless!
