A Note from the Superintendent
|
Greetings Parents,
The countdown to the end of the year is in full swing! As of today, we officially have 18 days of school left. As we reflect back on the 2015-16 school year, we are proud of many successes. We have undertaken some very ambitious goals and have seen some great outcomes. We are most proud of our students' growth over the course of the year. As I tour our classrooms, I see our youngest learners reading fluently and engaged in learning their math facts. In our intermediate grades, our students are learning to research and make sense of their reading. Our upper grade students are learning to ask critical questions and discovering creative solutions to difficult problems. It truly is amazing to watch the learning process unfold.
In an effort to capture this magic, we have created a short video that highlights some of the great things happening in our schools. In this video, you will hear from teachers, parents, and administrators about what makes our schools so special. I would like to thank sixth grade teacher Tony Madsen for his hard work in creating this video.
Please take a few minutes to watch our video and see just why we're so proud of our teachers, students, and schools.
Thanks, and have a great weekend,

Kindergarten Chicks Have Hatched!
The anxiously awaited time has come! Students were able to witness the birth of 7 baby chicks and one duckling this year! They carefully marked their calendars for 21 days and candled the eggs to determine their growth. A very exciting unit of study! More pictures on Facebook!

Meet the New Principals at Pleasantdale Middle
Fifth Grade students Griffin D. and Mikayla S. assisted with the leadership of Pleasantdale Middle School this past Wednesday. Amongst their many duties, Griffin and Mikayla started the day with the pledge and the weekly Tiger Stripes drawing, assisted with class visits, held a business lunch with invited classmates to discuss possible playground improvements, made suggestions for materials for our "maker space" activities for the library, and generally brightened the day for all of us in the building! Thank you Griffin and Mikayla!
