CAM PAC Seeks CAM Member Supporters
CAM's
Political Action Committee (PAC) is seeking supporters. CAM's Government Affairs Committee (GAC) has been extremely effective since its formation in recent years in advocating on behalf of its members and the good of the construction industry as a whole in our state.
In 2015 alone, CAM publicly supported a massive transportation funding overhaul that will generate over $1 billion to infrastructure funding in Michigan in future years. This legislation will spur economic growth in our communities and streamline efficiencies in our day-to-day business operations.
Our GAC was also successful in its efforts to secure more funding for the skilled trades. The CAM leadership has testified numerous times in the Michigan Legislature on the need for a trained workforce leading to an additional $10 million to the Skilled Trades Training Fund in 2015 and more funding in 2016 and 2017. These funds will assist in training the new workforce for years to come!
And while we've been successful in opposing the repeal of Michigan's Prevailing Wage Act and were able to keep construction project information from local governments free and accessible, these battles continue and the CAM PAC needs your help.
Going forward through 2016 and thereafter, the CAM GAC will continue to advance performance/prompt pay legislation and the many CAM workforce development initiatives already up and running, not to mention, closely monitor other important issues potentially impacting the CAM membership, including but not limited to, state energy legislation/policies and Detroit Public School System reform.
Additionally, this upcoming fall, the CAM GAC is preparing to host both another roundtable event, this time on the subject of collaboration in the industry, and a legislative breakfast symposium strategically planned during the homestretch of the 2016 election year with several local Michigan legislators in attendance to address the top concerns of the CAM membership. Again, both events are scheduled for this upcoming fall. STAY TUNED FOR MORE DETAILS!
By contributing to the CAM PAC you help to make your voice heard in the Michigan Legislature and insure that the needs of the construction industry are heard!
We want to thank you for your continued support of CAM and ask that you consider a contribution of $100, $250 or $500 to the CAM PAC today. Your checks can be made out to "CAM PAC" and mailed to CAM at 43636 Woodward Ave, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
- Kevin Koehler, President of CAM
- John Raimondo, Chairman CAM Government Affairs Committee
