HUMOR COLUMN
More Jokes from Bob...

Three men died in a car accident and met Jesus himself at the Pearly Gates. The Lord spoke unto them saying, "I will ask you each a simple question. If you tell the truth I will allow you into heaven, but if you lie....Hell is waiting for you.
To the first man the Lord asked, "How many times did you cheat on your wife?" The first man replied, "Lord, I was a good husband. I never cheated on my wife." The Lord replied, "Very good! Not only will I allow you in, but for being faithful to your wife I will give you a huge mansion and a limo for your transportation.
To the second man the Lord asked, "How many times did you cheat on your wife?" The second man replied, "Lord, I cheated on my wife twice." The Lord replied, "I will allow you to come in, but for your unfaithfulness, you will get a four- bedroom house and a BMW. To the third man the Lord asked, "So, how many times did you cheat on your wife?"
The third man replied, "Lord, I cheated on my wife about 8 times." The Lord replied, "I will allow you to come in, but for your unfaithfulness, you will get a one-room apartment, and a Yugo for your transportation.
A couple hours later the second and third men saw the first man crying his eyes out. "Why are you crying?" the two men asked. "You got the mansion and limo!" The first man replied, "I'm crying because I saw my wife a little while ago, and she was riding a skateboard!"

A man wanted to be buried with his money. On his death bed, he called his pastor, his doctor and his lawyer to his bedside. "Here's $30,000to be held by each of you. I trust you to put this in my coffin when I die so I can take all my money with me."
At the funeral, each man put an envelope in the coffin. Riding away in a limousine, the pastor suddenly broke into tears and confessed, "I put only $20,000 into the envelope because I needed $10,000 to repair the roof of the church."
"Well, since we're confiding in each other," said the doctor, "I put only $10,000 in the envelope because we needed a new CAT Scan machine for the pediatrics ward at the hospital, and we were  $20,000 short."
The lawyer was aghast. "I'm ashamed of both of you," he exclaimed. "I want it known that when I put my envelope in that coffin, I enclosed a check for the full $30,000."

An elderly couple were killed in an accident and found themselves being given a tour of heaven by Saint Peter.
Here is your oceanside condo, over there are the tennis courts, swimming pool, and two golf courses. If you need any refreshments, just stop by any of the many bars located throughout the area," said Peter.
"Heck, Gloria," the old man hissed when Saint Peter walked off, "we could have been here ten years ago if you hadn't insisted on exercising three times a week and eating that stupid oat bran, wheat germ, and low-fat food!"

A guy goes to a zoo and sees a gorilla with two books. The gorilla looks confused. One of the books is the Bible, the other Darwin. The guy asks the gorilla why he looks confused. The gorilla says "I can't figure out if I'm my brother's keeper or my keeper's brother!"

It was just before Christmas and the magistrate was in a happy mood. He asked the prisoner who was in the dock, 'What are you charged with?'
The prisoner replied, 'Doing my Christmas shopping too early.'
'That's no crime', said the magistrate. 'Just how early were you doing this shopping?'
'Before the shop opened', answered the prisoner.

Trinity Tidbits--Week of Pentecost

TOTH logo
The Feast of Pentecost is almost here!  I'm looking forward to seeing the customs of TotH, as they seem to be pretty 'spirit-filled.'
I want to remind you of two things.  First, on Friday May 13th, from 5:30-9pm, there will be a Pentecost Retreat.  We will eat dinner and take some time to read and pray as we await the Spirit's movement on Sunday.  Secondly, please consider inviting someone to our parish this Sunday.  It will be a great opportunity to share with our community the wonderful riches God has blessed us with through music, liturgy, and creativity.
   Peace,
   Chris

Join Chris at Starbucks this Thursday, 2:30-4pm
Pentecost Retreat on Friday
Please join us for our TOTH "Pentecost Retreat: Receiving the Holy Spirit", to be led by Fr. Chris this Friday, May 13, from 5:30 to 9pm in Sherrill Hall.  Dinner is provided. There will be time for discussion, prayer, and sharing as we look forward to the Holy Spirit doing something special in our midst on Pentecost Sunday.
Empty Tomb and Tongues of Fire
During the Adult Forum on Sunday, Fr. Chris is
facilitating a discussion on passages from the Book of Acts. The series is entitled 'Empty Tomb and Tongues of Fire' and has been preparing our hearts and minds for the arrival of Pentecost. We are using the African Bible Study, a method of study and discussion developed by African Anglicans. The discussions themselves require no foreknowledge of the Book of Acts. Rather, all that is required is an openness to the Holy Spirit speaking through the Scriptures. That's Sunday at 9:30 in Sherrill Hall.
Fortify Yourself for Pentecost!
A substantial cooked breakfast will be available in Kelly Hall at 9 am on Sunday 15 May. There will be pancakes, waffles, hash browns, scrambled eggs, fruit, etc.--and all are invited. Keith is cooking. This breakfast will be the 2015-2016 school year's final fundraiser for the Youth Choir Scholarship Fund, which helps choir members attend the Royal School of Church Music Camp in St Stephen's Cathedral, Wilkes-Barre PA each July. Prior to the breakfast, members of the Youth Choir will provide music at the 8 am service. Plan to have breakfast here at the church on Pentecost morning, and help out our Youth Choir. The meal is free. Tax-deductible donations will be gratefully received at the door, should you wish to contribute to this Scholarship Fund.

Pentecost Sleepover for Youth and Kids
There will be a youth (K-12) sleep-over at ToTH from 6pm Saturday 14 May to 9:30am Sunday 15 May (Pentecost), organized by the Youth Choir and Sunday School. Please bring a friend! Activities will include dinner, decoration of the church, crafts, games, Youth Compline, Movies and so on. The kids who sleep over will attend the 8 am service and then experience a super fry-up breakfast at 9:00 am. Pick up time is 9:30am.
Graduation Sunday & Cook-out May 22
After the 10:30 service Sunday May 22nd there will be a Graduation party for all TOTH students graduating from Grade school, Middle School, or High School.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be supplied. Side dishes, chips, and drinks are needed. Please plan on attending the party to congratulate our TOTH Children.
Please sign up to bring items and to setup and cleanup. You can still help, if you do not signup, but we want to make sure we have enough people and items. Thanks.
"Virtual Machine" Assistance Needed
Jane, our office IT person, would like to learn more about "virtual machines" to see if this would be good for our office computer setup.  If anyone in our parish knows how to setup and use virtual machines and would be willing to instruct Jane on them please contact the Church office and let us know.  Thank you.
Occasional adult backup needed for Youth Group
The high school youth group meets at the Favorites' house most Sundays from 5-6:45. Two adult leaders are required. If you would like to help cover occasional absences, contact the Favorites. It is very fun and low-key and a great way to meet a few of the youth of the parish.
UTO SPRING INGATHERING MAY 22
Just 11 days away!
United Thank Offering blue boxes are in the Narthex. Please pick up a box to take home for your family and give offerings as you give thanks to God for your daily blessings. More information is available next to the boxes and please read the article in the May Trinity Tidings. Thanks for everyone's participation in this National Episcopal program.
Field Trip for Elders
- Monday, May 23, 10:00 a.m. (Betty Ehart Senior Center)
The consensus following several inaugural meetings is that TOTH's Elder Group will meet the 4th Monday of every month at 10:00 a.m. in Sherrill Hall. Each elder will take a Monday date and be responsible for a topic or guest speaker(s) in addition to providing both coffee and a light snack. Our first field trip will be hosted by LARSO (Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization) Executive Director Pauline Schneider who will give an overview of services provided at our Centers as well as lead us on a physical tour of the Betty Ehart Senior Center on Monday, May 23, at 10 a.m. If needed, the Senior Center can provide transportation. Please contact TOTH Elder Group Coordinator Phyllis Bailey Prael. Email or call her if you plan to attend and/or need transportation.

The next Smith's Bucks order will be THIS Tuesday, May 17 --due by Noon
TOTH's regular order to recharge Smith's Bucks cards is placed every other week, now. This is to try and increase our order and get a larger percentage donation for the church from Smith's. TOTH does much better the more people recharge their cards (or get one for themselves to recharge regularly).
The next deadlines for Smith's orders are the Tuesdays during the week after LANL paydays: May 17 & 31, June 14 and 28... Mark your calendars! Thank you for your participation!
NOTICE REGARDING FIRST SUNDAY OFFERINGS FOR LA CARES
The next offering of paper products, laundry supplies, and non perishable foods will be June 5 (FIRST SUNDAY).  Unfortunately some of our donations have been disturbed and we are now asking, if at all possible, that items come in on that day only, rather than in the interim.   Thanks to all for your generosity in helping our less fortunate neighbors in the community.  All items are picked up by volunteers from LA Cares, usually the following day.
SAVE THESE DATES FOR VBS!
June 20-24 is Vacation Bible School at TOTH. The theme this year is "Cave Quest". Young children are encouraged to participate in the program and middle and high school kids can offer to help. For more information ask Alison Bailey or Ellen McBee.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS-FUN IN THE SUN!
TOTH's Annual Outdoor Worship and Church Picnic is Sunday June 19-Father's Day. The 10:30 service will be held at Rancho Nambe outdoors, under the trees, thanks to the Rochester's. (The 8am service will be at the church as per usual.) Bring your own protein source to grill and a side dish to share. There may be a dessert competition as per usual, too. Some chairs will be provided or you can bring your own lawn chair or blanket to put on the grass. The pool should be staffed by a licensed lifeguard, so bring your swim togs and towels. There are other activities to enjoy as well as worship, eating and swimming-take a walk around the property, visit the horses, pet the dogs, take a nap in the shade...
MORE Efficiency in Parish Life Event Planning with "Sign up Genius"!
Parish Life Ministry would like to streamline events and make the distribution of the work load less onerous. We are doing a few things - ensuring events go under the proper ministry so it doesn't all fall back on Parish Life; ensuring there is a coordinator for each event or it won't happen (someone needs to spear head events); online signups for volunteers or food.
We've had a few suggestions - girls night for a movie and Trinity Sunday. We're open to other suggestions (especially if you have a passion and want to lead it!) The pilot for online signups is for coffee hour on signupgenius.com. If you haven't received an invitation to join and would like to do so, let me know and I'll add you on.  Alternatively, you can go to www.signupgenius.com and look for my email address: [email protected].
If you want to be removed from that list, also let me know.  I'm hoping this makes sign ups easier for people to sign up and for those looking for volunteers.   Michelle Carr

Working on the Nuts and Bolts of Communications
presented at
St. Francis on the Hill, El Paso
Do these statements sound familiar?
Are these areas in which you would like assistance?
* How can I use "free" media to help my ministry?
* With all the forms of social media out there now, how do I best spend my time?
* How can I develop messages in my communication that are more meaningful?
* How can I effectively explain positive changes within our church to our congregation and our community?

These are topics common to congregations across our Diocese. If you'd like an opportunity to meet with your peers responsible for communication in their congregations, learn more about best practices and get real-world answers to your own questions, please join us on May 14, 2016, for a practical and useful communications workshop.

From Tom Steward
Prayer and information gathering at New Beginnings Church, 112 East Road, Thursday May 19 at 7:00pm during the first hour of the Celebrate Recovery Los Alamos meeting.

I will be returning to Mbiko, Uganda from May 26 to June 6 to minister at SWAR, Sanyuka Women at Risk. SWAR is a center that rescues women and children off the streets who are trapped in human trafficking, offering them respite at the Center for one year. While at the Center staff members love on these women and children and teach them from the Scriptures. The women are taught a skill so they don't have to return to prostitution. I will train staff members in counseling skills and help further implement a Celebrate Recovery program, as well as offer devotionals to the women in order to encourage them. I will teach at a local church and will be the key speaker at a weekend crusade from June 2 to 4.

I would like to invite you to a combined service at New Beginnings Church on Thursday, May 19 at 7:00pm, in order to gather together as a community to pray for this endeavor and to provide prayer covering for this important venture. Merchandise made by the women of Uganda will be available and all proceeds will go to the Center. Please join us if you are able.
