Cereal Box parade-I moved and the kids stayed in place. |
 I was lucky enough to spend a week in my home state of Kentucky in April, visiting schools to
celebrate Earth Day and to meet fellow writers and readers at the Southern Kentucky Book Festival. I had forgotten about the vast fields of goldenrod and how beautiful they are this time of year.
Jefferson School tickled me with their cereal box book report parade and their Donuts with Debbie. Fun times!
I also got to eat some of my brother's fabulous barbecue and beans. If you ever go to Henderson, KY make sure to visit Frank's place,
Thomason's Barbecue. It's the best!

the research I do can take me to strange places. Sometimes I am shocked at the variety of things I research for a forty-two page manuscript. But I always learn something new with each book-for Twist and Shout I learned to play chess for the first time. Writing books have also literally taken me places as well. When a school in Cairo, Egypt wanted me to visit I thought it was a joke, but it wasn't! My son, Nathan, went along for a trip we will never forget. Have an amazing month, Debbie
